Allrighty then! That was easier than I thought it'd be. It might be a bit of challenge for some of you though and it might take some organisation in getting books...
November shelf will be translated
I'll start a thread so I can share why I chose this shelf there and start a discussion :)

I've picked Marina as December's shelf picker & have just PM-ed her
Can't wait to see your pick, Marina! :D

So, the shelf for December is Plays ! That's because I love plays, both reading them and going to the theater to watch them :-)
I hope you will enjoy yourselves reading plays in December, I know it's something many people don't often give a thought to, so hopefully it will be a nice discovery for some of you :-)
Wow, that was super fast! Thanks, Marina... definitely not something i read a lot but do quite enjoy when i do:)
Thank you, Marina. Since plays are often short reads, I should be able to read several during December. (Hanging head) I am not making much headway on my translated book (Anna Karenina) this month.

The only thing that is really happening is the new plan for my daughter and I to read a chapter of Harry Potter out loud every night. And it looks like I will now do all the reading as she found it uncomfortable to read out loud on her first night. We've only just started, so I will see how long it lasts. I suspect it may just be the first book ( we are part way through watching the final film ).

This sounds like so much fun, Amanda! how old is your daughter?
I can't wait to do this with my son... he's 6 so have just started to learn to read properly this year (kindy) but he's doing really good so I'm hoping to do this sooner than later ;)
Also, it's almost December!!! Life usually gets SUPER busy so I hope you still get some rest & don't get burn up with all the busy-ness xo

oh wow... good luck! It will be tough to fit in... have you found any plays written by women? Maybe Marina can help you with that...?

I just checked the first 5 pages of "plays" and found only page 1 did not have women authors listed. So there is hope for your choice :)

I like the idea of reading Harry Potter out loud to your daughter! My mum has never read out loud to me, except when I was really young (up to age 6, I would say), but she passed me on her love of reading anyway. But it would have been fun to have her read out loud to me!
As for women writers, I have written down some suggestions in the thread dedicated to what we will read for the December shelf. Those are the only plays I've read (and enjoyed) by women writers -- it seems you are right, playwriting does seem to be very male-centric!

Can't wait to see your pick :-)

When you click the link above the comment box that reads " (some html is ok) " it gives you instructions on how to make the link.
Use the one under the second bullet: link
Leave the < a href =
Then substitute your copied link for the goodreads URL followed by ">
Take out the words: my link text and put the name of your shelf instead followed by < / a >
Note that I had to add some spaces so you could read the html in my instructions. Don't put the spaces in. Follow the spacing in the example given under the "some html is okay" link
Hope that isn't too confusing...

You are most welcome!
Thanks for picking me, Debi. I am sorry that I was away and that it took awhile to reach me. My pick for February shelf is Series.

I like this pick. I have been meaning to find a new series to start.
I am still looking for an avi for Series, but the wall of books does represent the number of series that I am continuing to read!
Had my husband review the four that I found. Our avi now represents the pic he chose for Series.

Hi, all. I know that I am a bit early, but I have already identified the next shelf picker and notified her. She has responded, so look for next month's shelf soon. (Tien, due to Valentine's Day, I wanted to get a jump on this. Hope you don't mind the early bird-ness of it all.)
March's Shelf Picker will be Lauren.
March's Shelf Picker will be Lauren.

I put my thinking cap on overnight and had an epiphany this morning. Hope its OK that I'm posting the shelf so early.
In honor of Mardis Gras (February) and Purim (March), I wanted to do something with costumes and festivals. Unfortunately, neither of these shelves have that many books on them so I've decided to go with one of my favorite settings, which is related to the theme .... New Orleans
I'll upload a picture to the group photos sometime today.
Oh, this should be a fun shelf, Lauren! I have a special place in my heart for New Orleans. I took a look at the shelf and found both non-fiction and fiction, so it has a bit of something for everyone.

for goodness' sake! It's a good series, for sure, but seriously...

Well, we found him in Hawaii too. ;)
I think people add books to a shelf because they want to read a book when they are visiting a city. At least that's the only explanation I can find because otherwise, it makes no sense.

I've chosen the Shelf Picker for April and it i is .... (drum roll).... Charity.
Charity has been notified and I'm looking forward to her choice :0)
