Semiosis, by Sue Burke and Children of Time, by Adrian Tchaikovsky... the two best new books I've read this year.

They are great, but Hugo eligibility calls for the 1st US publicanion in English in 2018. Children of Time were published in June 2015. Semiosis is eligible

Sorry... Wasn't there an interactive list posted here by Kateblue? I thought that was a list of eligible books, so I just picked my two off that list. I was surprised that Children of Time was listed, but I trusted the list. Am I just horribly confused? Was the list a figment of my imagination?

Possibly you used this thread - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... and there are 2 GR lists, which are named
2019 Hugo Awards - Best Novel
and
Hugo 2019 Eligible Novels
Maybe there

Yep, that's the list... but I have no idea how I got there from this thread. Maybe this platform and this group discussion is just too Byzantine for me. I'm not really interested in learning the ins and outs of a whole new technology just to be able to discuss books. It seems like a very high percentage of my comments result in being corrected and/or reprimanded.

I had my share of reprimands, often due to the misunderstanding. That's a nature of written comments, so do not be discouraged!

Don't be disheartened, Cynthia. Trust me when I say that everyone has only the best of intentions when correcting or explaining something to a new member. I for one enjoyed our discussions on aliens and evolution from Childhood's End and Darwin's Radio.

We cannot affect Nebula but we have a way to affect Hugo - about which later
