You have given some great information. Do you recall anything about the cover? It's amazing what little detail can catche someone's eye who knows the book!
You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 143 where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!

I read this book in middle school (early 2000's, probably the 2004-2008 range) and as far as I know that's about the time it was published.
As far as plot goes, I remember very clearly that the main character (a girl who's name I've forgotten) and her crush kiss in the kitchen at a birthday party (pretty sure it's her birthday) and I think they have an icing fight? I vaguely remember something about blue icing but I might be mistaken. Anyway, they kiss but don't really talk about it at all and that's all that happens at the time, but he ends up dying soon after (within the next couple of days if I remember correctly) so they never actually get the chance to make it "official" or even talk about their feelings for each other. I don't remember much of the plot from that point on, which is unfortunate because he dies really early on in the book, but I do know that he died from some kind of heart condition. I remember a quote about "a tiny hole in his heart which lay dormant for years" or something along those lines. I also very clearly remember the girl was incredibly torn up not only over his death in general but also the fact she never got to know if he felt the same way for her as she did for him. I'm pretty sure there was a line about "not knowing exactly what I lost" somewhere in there. From what I remember, the plot mostly focused around her grief and healing process, but I think there was also some romance involved later on, though I don't remember much of anything about it.
If I think of anything more helpful I'll add it below. Again, sorry this is pretty generic, but thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help me find this book!
