Here’s my far fetched theory. The pigs that carry the same bloodline are all named with the same first initial. Maybe Ann, Amelia, Alice are all dead babies manifested in the body of the child that came back to life. Who knows.. I’m no nearer figuring it all out but am still loving the story.

There are so many things I'm trying to piece together, and I don't know whether to be frustrated that I can't figure it all out, or utterly delighted to read a novel that is keeping me on my toes! There is most certainly something with the pigs. I'm also curious as to who accosted Rita..... We shall see!
I don’t think that “Amelia” is actually Amelia. Does Mrs. Vaughn know that? At some level, I think she does. Grief does funny things to people, but most people still know the truth at some level.
I love a good changeling story and I think it's headed that way. I think in her mind, deep down, she knows it isn't Amelia.
