Spoiler away!

Ryan (damonke) | 3 comments I really felt that the bonds mage (sp? I listened to the AB) was frustrating as hell and almost spoiled the story for me. (view spoiler) I really liked the book otherwise, and will probably read the others when I get the chance.

The bonds mage was annoying, but don’t think they ruined the story for me in anyway. I like the thought of there being magic in the world, but not driving the man in points of it.

Ryan (damonke) | 3 comments It just seemed a little too convenient for him to be able to say, "Oh, don't like my offer? Well, have a chat with the Falconer..." I can see how that would work, and he does make the point that it is horribly expensive and not at all normal for them to be used in such a way, I just would've preferred black alchemy as a solution. I felt that was where the magic of the world really shines. It kind of reminded me of the alloys from Mistborn and I really loved that system.

MrBoomDiAda | 6 comments The bonds mage is considerably OP and imo the frustration you felt with that character is pretty much exactly how the author wanted you to feel so you can empathize with the crew and their own frustration and even their inability to take out revenge on the Falconer.
