Please post a self-introduction here, maybe about what you like to read, what you've read most recently, etc. Or just say, "Hello!" Maybe you might include your handle on Habitica and/or Discord.

After you've entered an introduction, maybe hop over and post something in the ideas and suggestions folder.

The topic has the "01" on it because I've gone into groups that have been around a while and the latest introductions are on page 304. So at some point I plan to create "Introductions 02" and so on.

If you click on my name, immediately above this message, you will get to see my Goodreads profile. I stumbled into KOA last year because I was doing a Habitica challenge to join a guild and a party. I got sucked in by #philosophy and by Silver Tongues (and KOAI). Right now I am writing a sorta daily "word of the day" thing on KOAI in #english. It's aimed at people whose first language isn't English.

I'm old. I'll hit my "three-score and ten" in 2019, God willing. I have six kids and five grandkids. I live with my books and my R2-D2 and BB-8 toys near Chicago, USA.

Eryn | 4 comments Hey guys! This is CosmicRaptor (from both Habitica and Discord)! I love science books, fantasy and detective mystery novels. I'm currently reading The Joy Plan: How I Took 30 Days to Stop Worrying, Quit Complaining, and Find Ridiculous Happiness.

PaxD | 2 comments Hello! This is Pax17 or PaxD. I am enjoying KOA on Habitica and Discord. I love reading - and writing (so I'm also in Fiction Faction). I read almost everything: historical fiction, nonfiction, memoir, contemporary fiction, philosophy, science, contemporary fiction. I'm currently reading three: Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung by Ajahn Brahm - Buddhist stories; The Way of All Flesh by Ambrose Parry - fiction set in Edinburgh, 1847; and The Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris.

Riri (ryngc) | 6 comments Hey knights,

I'm Riri (the Stormbreaker) both on Habitica and Discord. I've always loved reading. My favorite genre would probably be sci-fi and fantasy. I very rarely read non-fiction though. I (sort of) maintain a Tumblr blog where I just post (very mediocre) reviews of books I've read so far.

message 6: by Marta (new)

Marta (mcheloous) Hi there fellow readers! I'm mcheloous in Habitica and Discord.
My favorite genres are scifi, fantasy and mystery/horror in that order.
I don't read as much as I'd love to but I hope to be able to slowly change that starting next month. As for what I expect from this Goodreads group, I'm pretty open to any genre but I'd prefer to read more non-fiction, it's one of the areas I'm less used to and it sparks my curiosity greatly.
My "current" —more like stand-by— read is Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morals (thanks for your patience, Clark, haha).

message 7: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (linxzie) Hello everyone! I’m Linxzie, on both Habitica and Discord. I love to read fiction books. Mostly fantasy and journey/adventure books. I do read the occasional non-fiction for topics that interest me.

I created a fantasy folder. Should there be a separate journey/adventure book folder?

message 9: by Sharon Valdez (new)

Sharon Valdez | 1 comments Hi everyone. I'm Whims Precarious on Habitica and Discord. I enjoy reading sci-fi, philosophical, and literary books. Also non-fiction, mostly in the self-help genre. My currents reads are many. Like Siddhartha, Dragon of Ash and Stars, Refuse to Choose, Blogs Change Lives... I wish I read more often. That is my goal--to read more often.

You have my sword!
I'm pa_kalsha on Habitica and Discord.
I read mostly fantasy and SF with odd forays into horror, but also a fair chunk of nonfiction, specifically philosophy, productivity, religious/esoteric, and art-related books.

In 2019, I'm hoping to read more books than I buy, but I'm losing 0:4 right now.

Christina | 1 comments Hi everyone! :)
I'm ChristinaFox on Habitica and Discord. I love a variety of genres, but a good fantasy probably takes the top. I definitely jump between books depending on my mood for reading. Some current fun ones:
-Iron Druid Chronicles (fantasy)
-Steel world (sci-fi)
-psych 101 (non-fic)
-joyful (non-fic)

Is it a series? What's it about?

Brandy Wiseman (littlemoonwarrior) | 2 comments Hi folks! I'm Littlemoonwarrior on both Habitica and KOA discord. I absolutely love to read. Fantasy, sci-fi, adventure and historical are my favorite but I'm not picky when it comes to a good story :) I just finished reading Wuthering Heights and started reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Since you have a lot of experience on Goodreads, please feel free to post advice in the "Hey, moderators!" folder, and to help others who are new to Goodreads.

I don't read much fantasy but I'm going to bet there are different kinds. What kind(s) do you read most?

Grimdark is my favourite flavour of fantasy but overall I'm not picky.

@Ivan, I looked at your profile. That's a lot of books! And friends!

What's an example of Grimdark?

Wow, you have a busy profile! Just wondering, do you read for a living?

Thanks and sadly no. My job doesn't involve any books whatsoever :(. I actually have very busy life but I manage to squeeze in some reading every chance I got (books in public transportation, short stories on my phone during coffee/lunch breaks on work, audiobooks during cooking and cleaning).

Could you please give me an example or three of an "adventure" book that isn't fantasy, sci-fi, or historical?

I'm declaring "Introductions 01" long enough. Any new intros should go into "Introductions nn" where nn is some number higher than 01.
