Dispelling Curses 101 Class

Jovie thought that was an interesting thing to wrap her head around, however, the question wasn't being directed toward her. Still she didn't think it was at all the type of curses they'd be learning about.

"Let me see it." Constantine said, going over to her and holding his hand out for it.

Mikan hesitated a bit before handing the green and black longbow to Constantine. She sent a quick mental note to the demon resting inside, hoping she won't reject the teacher and possess him.

Gwen watched, hoping she wouldn't have to hand over her weapons.

Constantine studied the bow before shaking his head, having felt the demon inside of it but it wasn't able to harm him. It was funny, since he seemed to relate more to a possessed bow than he did to anyone else. "Did you mention how it was that they're in here?"

"They're the demonized version of a powerful vampire. They are killed, then cursed to stay in this weapon. Weaker ones die painfully. Stronger ones get turned into weapons." Mikan responded calmly. It was just how things were, after all, and they were just vampires anyway.

"Chances of them escaping?" He asked, looking it over before handing it back.

"Only if you are unable to properly control them and they possess you," Mikan took her bow back and laid it across her lap. "It happened to Dad once when he was my age. I'm told it wasn't very pretty,"

Constantine nodded, looking over at Arana before he looked at Mikan. "You know, there is a way for you to avoid being possessed by these sort of things."

Yuri raised his hand. "Is this what class is going to be about? Because I don't have one of those."

"Same," Gwen muttered beside Mikan.

Mikan blushed and looked away from the teachers, feeling embarrassed. “Never mind...I’ll figure it out on my own,”

Akira giggled behind her hand. “Oh my, oh my. No need to be so shy! You started a conversation in this class! That’s impressive!” She smiled. “And I do not have a weapon like that either. Funny seeing how I am a Devil,”

"No, I'm trying to answer your question. But I'm not sure if you're asking if this is good magic... or not." He told Mikan, and then looked at Yuri.

"No- or, at least, not entirely. We are here to show you how to protect both your minds and your bodies from a possible possession- demonic or even Angelic." He said, casting a look at Arana before looking at them again. "And, essentially, how to protect those around you as well."

“What were you going to suggest? In my world we just use sheer willpower,” Mikan answered shyly.

It was odd that John kept looking back at Arana. Was he looking for approval or was he instigating some unspoken dislike, Jovie wondered.

"In most worlds, this usually works." He replied, undoing the first few buttons of his shirt to show them the anti-possession star tattoo he'd gotten to avoid possessions.

Gwen raised her eyebrows and immediately looked at her notebook.

Akira raised her hand. “Could it repel any sort of demon? If one touched you, for example. Would it still work then?” She asked curiously.

Dragos has finally gotten extremely bored and put his feet back down on the table, rolling his eyes. “Can you two just make-out or something like that? Your tension is getting on my nerves!” He grumbled, motioning to Arana and Constance.

Yuri put his head in his hands. This was not going to go well.

Gwen shot her friend a look. It was one thing to notice there was something between them, but Gwen didn't think it was good things.

"If you cannot control yourself properly, I will have to put you in detention," Arana told Dragos in a sharp tone. Clearly this vampire didn't have any self control and had a disrespective streak. She wasn't going to put up with it.

Constantine went over and shoved Dragos's feet off of the table, annoyed with his attitude as well. "Its two strikes now, with this one. Dont let it get to three, or you will be regretting it." He told him before facing Akira once more. "Yes, it keeps a demon from possessing you. But only if the actual demon, and not the vessel, is the one that touches you."

Gwen thought that this class was going nowhere fast. She Drew circles in the margins of her notebook.

Dragos rolled his eyes. “You think I care? I’m bored! This class is so freaking boring and you took my only source of entertainment away from me! Why would a powerful vampire like myself even need to dispel curses?!”

Akira giggled. “Curious. Does it work on other demonic creatures as well, such as a fallen angel?” She knew her fallen angel blood was stronger than her Devil blood and was curious if someone could still use such a tactic to gain the upper-hand in a fight.

Sighing heavily, Gwen wanted to get past all the questions and onto the real lesson. So far she was learning nothing.

Jovie cleared her throat very softly. "Shall we not move on from distractions to the actual lesson plan? After all, the students have all semester to ask you these questions."

Constantine rolled his eyes at Dragos before looking over at Akira, shaking his head. "No, they cannot. And unless you are the fallen Angel's true vessel... a possession from them can kill you." He told her, shrugging a shoulder. "Not to say that you cant do something to weaken them, though."

Gwen agreed with the other lady that she hadn't noticed before. Maybe it was just the lighting but she looked like she was glowing.

“I’m not too worried about possession. Supposedly my father was a very powerful Devil with dragon blood. I think I can handle myself,” Akira smiled. “Those were all of my questions, thank you,”

Constantine just nodded before looking at the others, raising an eyebrow. "Does anyone else have a question?" He asked, since they had to continue with the lesson and he didnt want it to be interrupted.

"Nope, teach away," Gwen said, putting her pen cap between her teeth.

Yuri looked over at Akira, thinking she was very brave to just come about what she was. Not everyone did that. He hoped now that they would get into the lesson so maybe he could take a nap in Meditation.

Mikan nodded in agreement with Gwen. “I don't have any other questions either, so...”

Arana stepped back from the desk, allowing Constantine to begin teaching like they'd agreed upon previously

Gwen frowned. She hoped that the blonde lady would be teaching. So far she wasn't fond of how this guy had done things, but she supposed there was going to be at least one teacher she didn't like.

Constantine gave Arana a nod before he faced the class, leaning back against his desk. "How many of you were at the Halloween dance?" He asked, since that's what he wanted to somewhat focus the class on. "I take it that most of you didn't know what to do, thus causing you to panic and run around screaming. And I can't blame you- not really, because even most of the admin that night did the same."

Yuri frowned at the mention of the Halloween dance. He hadn't gone and something big had happened.

"It's not like some didn't try," Gwen spoke up. "Not much anyone could do in that situation. No one could touch them," she looked Constantine in the eye.

"I'm not asking you to justify them." Constantine replied, shrugging a shoulder. "What I'm trying to do is make a point. Whatever those things were, they got stronger and stronger the more people panicked- strong enough that they were able to touch and throw things around. Did you notice that?"

“So, they feed on people’s negative energy and thoughts to gain power?” Akira wondered to herself. “Perhaps they are Will O’ the Wisps or imps...”

Yuri thought about he thought it curious. He'd never heard anything about the whisk things attacking people.

Constantine nodded, looking at Arana before he continued. "So regardless of you may think, there was something you could do- magic or not." Then he went over to the grab his bag, pulling out some things. "Those things were controlled by something else, making them illusions, which is why they dissolved."

"No one knows what they were," Gwen said, crossing her arms. "And they weren't curses. So why are we learning about them?"

"Because to do an effective dispelling curse," he started, leaning against the table again, "You need to be calm. To control the magic, or it will only backfire."

Gwen nodded her head back and forth, as if considering it.

"So for our first lesson, we'll be focusing on the how your state of mind affects your spells- especially those regarding protection." He looked at Arana, hoping she'd say something as well.

Gwen sat up a bit then, wondering if this was going to be like meditation with breathing practice.

"There are several ways to keep yourself calm under stressful or surprising situations," Arana said. "All of them take practice. Practice to the point that it must come to you in your every day life. We will be focusing on these methods a lot throughout the course. Different methods, because what may work for one won't work for all."

"One of the methods is to take deep breaths." Constantine said, since it usually helped people. "Itll clear your head, and most of you forget to even breath."
