Paris McTere As I started reading "Salvage of the Bones" I realized that it is being narrated in a personal way that connects with the reader and I agree with Kissiah about it being like a diary or journal in a way. We get a taste of what everyone is feeling and their thought process based on what's going on. The part that resonates with me is when they relate China, their dog, to their mother who died during the birth of Junior, the youngest child. They feel as if China can be associated with how their mother gave birth and are intrigued and worried at the same time about the health of China and the puppies. The main difference is that they want to make sure that they all survive. Another comparison that I made is their mother and the storms that have happened and are happening at the time and the intensity of them. Their dad describes the storm as the worst one he's ever seen or been through. This last one could be the end and wipe everything and everyone out. Their mother had past storms that passed quickly with little damage, but the "storm" caused her end. This could resonate with a reader today who might have lost a loved one, but instead of giving up, you could find light in another thing like they did in the book by putting their hope into China that the delivery would be safe and that they would all live.
