Watcha Doin' - 2019

Glad Beans is enjoying the snow! Our cats haven't been so keen. They have stayed inside pretty much all day. In fact, the only time I have seen any of them go outside was when Casper went out earlier to go to the toilet. I think it was his quickest pee ever! The other two seem to be doing a great job of holding their bladders so far! Lol.

That's too bad about your glasses Sarah!

Are they made of metal? Anyone you know that owns a metal detector?

Are they made of metal? Anyone you know that owns a metal ..."
I did thibk of that but unfortunately they are plastic frames except for the tiny hinges. The snow frozes hard last night so no chance of finding them until it thaws now. It's supposed to be -8C tonight which is the coldest i've known it to be forecasted around here. Mqyve i'll have some luck tomorrow when it thoughs. I'm not heopeful though.

Stay warm everybody ❄️

My wife had a mole removed several years ago. Was a little minor surgery then they send to a lab to test for cancer. What is it they call it malignancy? Something like that

Glad you've had a warmer day Travis. Look after your mole/cut. Hopefully it's just something that will go away, but if it's randomly appeared get it checked. Our housemate just had a mole removed the other day which luckily was benign, but went a weird colour so they just got rid of it quick. Yay for mid-30s where everything starts doing weird things... /sigh

So snakes are awesome swimmers. So you stay out of flood waters, as snakes get surprised and swim to safety. They have some good, big, snakes up in FNQ. And they have freshies AND salties, so crocs everywhere.
But that's all 2 100+kms away. Thanks for checking in. Benefit to being down South where I am, is that we don't have the monsoon (this is the monsoon season that arrived a month late) or the cyclones, and we don't have the crocs. So when we flood down here, you just have to look out for snakes. But that's no different to usual. I went out for a walk at lunchtime yesterday and spent the whole time looking out for Browns or Red-Bellies any way.

I'm happy to hear you're feeling better Sandra. Hopefully you've shaken off the flu bugs for once and for all to give your immunity a chance to rebuild itself.

Oh Sandra, sounds like you've had a rotten time of it! You must be run down. Take care of yourself.
Rusalka, good to hear you're OK. i will never understand how you lot talk so calmly about killer snakes and spiders!

Glad you are feeling better, Sandra. The flu seems to have been particularly nasty this winter.
Travis, I hope your mole turns out to be nothing.

They were reporting tonight that over 2000 homes have been flooded up in FNQ now. Most are coming home to find the water has receded but 1m of mud is left in the house. Urgh.
A friend of mine lives up there, and is in Cambodia at the moment. Her friends sent a video of her house which she shared on facebook. The flood waters have stopped at her back fence. It's literally water, then the fence, then dry. So bizarre.
Also, when the whole world is trying to kill you, you get pretty blase about the whole thing. Still more likely to be killed by a coconut than a crocodile.

I've gotta ask - how does a coconut kill you?

That's a lot more deaths by coconuts than I would have expected. I mean seriously, the timing has to be perfect.

I've read that statistic before. Pretty crazy!

Not on my laptop, but it did just happen on my phone. Annoying indeed! With Android, if you go to the 3 dots in the top right corner, you can select 'desktop site' and it goes back to normal.

It's an app against food waste. Shops, cafes, bakeries and so on can join and offer 'magic boxes' for only a little bit of money. You can reserve one and pick it up just before closing time, and it contains food that is still completely fine but will be thrown away otherwise.
I think that's great and want to try it out. There are many shops/stores/cafe that have joined this in the two cities I work in, but none at all in my own city! I'm going to check back regularly to see if anything comes up here too.

Now if we are anywhere near coconut trees, one of us is on coconut watch while being lead by the other.
Cool initiative, Peggy. They have ceased operating in Aus unfortunately. Hope your town gets added soon, but maybe you can pick up a box in the other towns on the way home from work?
Stay warm, Jenn! That sounds ridiculous!!!

Rusalka, that is really scary. Glad you were both just far enough away. Yikes. I'll be sure to have a coconut lookout person if I'm ever lucky enough to be near a coconut tree.
Jenn, stay warm. That is way too cold.

Stay warm Jenn!
I could pick up a box in my work city, but as you can only pick it up in the 15 minutes before closing time, I would have to stay at work 1-4 hours longer than I normally would. I did find a hotel near work that offers it from 10 to 10.15am, so you can come with your own bags, boxes and bottles and for 3 or 4 euros take whatever's left from the breakfast buffet.

Never thought to look out for coconuts before so I will do now after your close call Rusalka. Not that I have any plans for tropical holidays at the moment. We're off to Austria this year to stay with our friends which I'm looking forward to though.
It was really windy here last night. The boat was rocking a lotand it was so loud. We were awake for a good few hours because of it. I think we're due more strong winds over the next couple of days.

Peggy, thank you, that is a bit better. Still no way to "rely", "edit or "delete" a comment though. Don't like the update 👎. On the positive side though, my predictive text has come back. That has been gone for a couple of years now and I have really missed it 👍

Yes he's a cat. He was having a lot of fun pouncing and running around. He wasn't keen so much on the falling snow so kept sheltering under the trees and us. We're only taking him out supervised as we were concerned he might walk out on to the snow covered ice on the canal.
