Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments The question is, do the jeans or t-shirt bring you Travis, or Rob, join. According to Netflix, that's all that's important.

message 252: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Just clothes to me. Some of those shirts are 20 years old lol

Kristie | 19137 comments Rusalka, I think that’s “joy”. Though join is an interesting concept since your talking jeans and tees. Lol

Kristie | 19137 comments Not me... they bring me joy. I’m keeping them.

But they are the best shirts! I just threw out a 25 year old tshirt that was more holes than tshirt. But it was comfy, familiar, had Tweety Bird looking like he was Straight out of Compton, and mine. I'm still in mourning.

Yes...
Thanks Kristie. I'm not even on the phone, so can't claim autocorrect! I just assumed I was good and carried on. Time for bed, me thinks.

I had no opinion of her as I only know her name and haven't watched her show or read her book, but with this information I can now safely say I'm not a fan either.

I have to say though that seeing a wall full of books brings me joy, so I could keep as many books as I want I guess. Maybe buy even more!

message 259: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments (oh, and I'm pretty certain Rob's jeans don't bring him joy, as he's forgotten all about them. Maybe if he spits through them he finds one he's nostalgic about and he can keep it, but all the others should go out!)

message 260: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Jan 19, 2019 06:59AM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments If Rob is like my husband and some of those jeans are new, and I mean new never worn, I suggest you pick one without him knowing and give it to him as a present on his next birthday. That is what I use as a threat to make my husband use his clothes.

message 261: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments LOL! That's brilliant Sandra :D

Sarah | 18549 comments I like the way that woman folds tshirts although i was doing that before the tv programme (not that i've seen it but friends have mentioned it).

message 263: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I've never heard of Kondo. My books give me joy, so I'll carry on with the number I have. Just keep buying bookshelves.

message 264: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments Kondo has her own tv series about tidying!

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments A couple of friends were talking about a show like that but didn't mention her name. Maybe that's the one.

message 266: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments I'm back! We had a great trip! It was good to get away and relax a bit and spend time with the kiddos making memories.

We went to an aquarium where I got to touch a sea anemone. It felt sort of like jello, and when you touch it, it feels like it's sucking up your finger. Totally weird.

We also went to The Ark Experience which was amazing. Unfortunately, it was freezing that day so we missed all of the outside activities that go along with it like the petting zoo and camel rides, but we had fun anyways.

I'm glad to be home now though and ready to catch up with everyone.

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I should watch it and get some ideas. I need to get rid of some useless stuff. One friend said, "Didn't you purge when you moved?" I did, but it could be pared down even more. It's amazing how much stuff got added in the 1-1/2 years I've lived here.

Hi Renee, your message made me smile. I should have remembered how low pressure this group is and checked in earlier. I'm beyond grateful and cant wait to talk books with you.

Isn't that the Hotel California? ;-)

Yuk, it's snowing here. There are 1-3 cm predicted (yes all of you in snowy places, you may laugh now!) and yesterday it was already announced that because of this, the trains would be on an adjusted schedule. I had to go to work today, but I came home early and I'm now working from home. I absolutely hate cycling through the snow, so I figured I'd better go home a bit early so that there isn't that much snow yet, and also so that I could cycle home in daylight. I would have walked or taken a bus if it had been dark. I cycled home snail-speed and didn't fall (only one almost-fall), so yay!

message 292: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I can't even imagine cycling through snow. Doesn't sound very safe :(

It is snowing up north in ireland but I am in the midlands so we might be lucky :-/

message 293: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments We have got snow here too, Peggy. I would say between 1-2cm has fallen, which isn't much but it's already causing chaos. It was widely forecast and has been for days but despite that, it seems like our local council haven't bothered to grit the roads so they are now really slippery and we live in a hilly area so it's not a great combination.

message 294: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments We had 3 cm here in north France. Not huge disturbance so far, but the subway was working with delays, etc, which seems like a lot of trouble for so little snow, but I completely get that it is chaos in countries where never snows. My French teacher said they had only one day of snow last winter and it were only 2 cm, so obviously it's not an issue in general.

message 295: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I think that's exactly the problem Sandra. We have days like this maybe 2-3 times per year, sometimes not even that. It's not worth it to invest in all kinds of technology or machinery or other things to avoid disruptions on these few days. It's different for countries/places where there's lots of snow every year.

message 296: by Peggy (last edited Jan 22, 2019 09:24AM) (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I just read that there's 1700km 2100km 2300km of traffic jams on Dutch roads, which is a new record (old one was 1500km). Even on highways people are only driving 30 km/hour. On one of our highways, which is 217km in length (so 434 if you count it both ways), there's 200 km of traffic jams. Not many accidents though, because people are driving so slow and taking extra care.

message 297: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Oooh!! Soooooo glad I went home this afternoon! There are almost no trains right now between the city where I work and the city where I have to transfer trains. And right at the time when I would normally be travelling.
