Margo | 11628 comments Just stopping by to say quick hi. I've been under the weather for the past week. On antibiotics and steroids and they curing the infection but making me feel rotten. We've all had it one by one! My mum is not in great health at the best of times. My aunt in the west in in hospital with serious chest infection. I'm back to life a bit today so I'm going to attempt some baking. I have never had so little done for Christmas but as long as we are all health I'll be happy.

Any news on Lisa?

@Rusalka, how are you doing? News from Auss is grim.

Hope everything else is doing well. No time to read all posts I've missed.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I hope she's okay... I think she has some health issues and it's not like her to just disappear.

message 2359: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Hi all!

Just popped in to let you know that I'm okay and to explain a bit about why I've not been around for a few weeks.

Unfortunately my pre-existing health issues have flared up really badly this past month or so and I have not been in a good place because of that. A few other things have gone wrong as well that I won't go into detail about on here, which have all added to my stress levels, and as a result my reading has been non existent for a while now and I haven't been online much at all. The good news is things are hopefully starting to turn around, I'm beginning a new pain management and treatment plan in January which will hopefully help me to get back on track a bit health wise.

Thank you all so much for your concern. It means a lot 🙂. I will hopefully return to YLTO in the new year.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it) and a Happy New Year 🎄🍾 See you all in 2020! ❤️

It's good to hear you're OK Lisa but I was hoping that it wasn't health issues that were keeping away. So glad they put pain management plan in place soon. That should improve your quality of life no end (based on my own experience though I know your issues are more complex).

Hope you are able to enjoy Christmas a bit <3

message 2370: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Long time no posting. I've been busy. I meant to stop by and tell about the school play my son was in. They did Madagascar. It was for grades 3-6 and I went with low expectations and those kids did phenomenal. I was mind blown and not just the kids but the teachers who worked to get the kids to that point amazing.

Then I wanted to refurbish my wife's grandfather's rifle to give my son for Christmas. About 3 weeks and 150 hours of YouTube how to do this that and the other thing to firearms it's done.

Now just busy with work and Christmas. And my idea of I have an idea for some changes on the farm but I'm gonna wing it rather than make a plan was maybe not the best idea. I mean choosing no plan is still a plan of sorts. I probably won't be around much in the future either I really have to finish my no plan plan. Long story short. I'm over stocked and need to move animals to our other barn that's been vacant for years and a whole bunch of animals are about to have babies and I have way too much left to do and pretty sure they're just gonna pop those babies when they feel like it with complete disregard to my readiness. Lol. The nerve.

message 2371: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I'm pretty excited for Christmas. First I found, not sure what I was originally shopping for, a reindeer mankini with jungle bells on it and a santa hat. About 5 am I'm putting it on and waking my wife up for presents. I'm gonna find it hilarious. She will probably wonder how she married me or why lol

Then you know the shirts that have the body of whatever and you put them on and they make you look like whatever it is. Well I found this one that's like a bad ass biker santa. Santa has a shirt ripped down the front with his hairy chest and abs showing and has a bunch of tattoos and stuff. I haven't even told my wife I bought this. I'm gonna put it on and wear a sweatshirt. Then about the time they say gather around the table for Grace at my 90 year old grandma's house I'm gonna take off the sweatshirt and just act normal standing for Grace and when everyone lifts their head and opens their eyes there I'll be bad ass biker Santa Travis

Merry Christmas and a Happy holidays whatever you celebrate everyone.

The games cartridge sounds super fun, Roz! Particularly with nostalgia added. And my Mum goes on all the time about how busy she is now she's retired, at least they are things that she wants to do now.

And grats as well! Sounds like you have lots of interesting plans ahead :D

Last I saw 30% increased admissions on respiratory issues in NSW. My stepfather has issues with asthma, but hasn't been too bad but mum says he's guzzling ventolin. The worst is those people who don't even know they have asthma or the like. I heard of one guy the other day about our age who had his first attack with this air, and passed away.

They are making the sports players play in it too. I saw the women's soccer the other day in Adelaide (also on fire), and the medical staff were forcing ventolin into them to help them keep playing. One ref had to be taken off with 5 mins to go as she couldn't breathe anymore. Crazy.

message 2379: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Hope you guys feel better soon, Peggy and Margo. And horrible you're whole family is down sick too Margo.

We've opened the windows tonight for the first time since we returned from the coast. The air quality is supposed to be horrendous again tomorrow afternoon, but we are taking our chances now with it at AQI 100 ish.

Shirley sounds like she got a downpour of rain this evening, which is great! We're still dry down here. Fires are a bit more under control I think, but still. They're reporting 90+ homes burnt in the north of Adelaide. My stepfather's niece (my brother's cousin) had the flames up to her door there. Saved the house, but garden is no more. But that's much easier to replace.

Looks like about 48000 km2 burnt so far this season. We have 3+ months to go. That's more than Denmark, but less than Slovakia.

Really good to hear from you Lisa! Sorry to hear you've had issues with your health and other life things. Hope you have a great Chrissy and 2020 is heaps better, and you're able to pop in and join us a bit more :D

message 2381: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Lol Travis. I agree with everyone about your Christmas "surprises". Sounds fantastic, but you can keep the mankini to yourself. Although I can't wait to hear how your wife reacts lol.

And those animals! With a mind of their own and no consideration! Good luck with all your plans and work. I saw the split pipe the other day, which doesn't sound like its helping. Sounds like your place is going well though, even with all the work. Let us know how you're doing when you can, and what you've been listening too while you've been doing all this work.

I did a double take on your comment, mars. The only teeth being carved in soap that I was aware of was when a parent washed out a kid's mouth with soap for swearing. But then I went to your profile and saw that you have aspirations for dentistry. All's good. Carve away! :)

I hope you're feeling better Margo and Lisa.

I started checking out my new "old" games. This is going to take a lot of practice, years of it I think. I remember being better at some of the games, even beating some.
