Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'll let you know when they do Janice. They are available in a few stores in a few US states (and online).

Alcohol-related injuries totally acceptable here too! You probably won't hear the end of it though..

Rob always says they shouldn't call vegetarian burgers or sausages 'burgers' or 'sausages'. I don't see why not. It's not a big issue here though, many veggie products have burger, sausage, meatball etc in their name.

Speaking of great Dutch brands going UK, get ready for my next commercial: The Vegetarian Butcher is now also available in the UK! It's a Dutch brand with really good products. I don't care much for veggie products that are supposed to be like meat (rather just have something based on and tasting like veg), but these are nice! Even ever-critical 'I need meat'-Rob had to admit their stuff is pretty good and the closest to resembling the real stuff (although admittedly, he has limited experience).

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments Oh y Rus some people should learn to think before they talk.

I used to dread NYE. The heads of each nursing unit would take turns being house supervisor for NYE. People do some stupid things when under the influence. There was only one NYE I covered that I didn't have to call a family with horrible news. Big city trauma centers see it all

Thanks Kristie. I cast my vote :-)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments My little guy, Nathan, turns 5 today; so we've been celebrating kid-style. The day started with the dinosaur birthday cake his big sister made him. Yep, that's right, we ate it for breakfast. That was followed by present time and then lunch at McDonald's with his grandparents. We, of course, had to go to one with a play area and have plenty of time for that. Back at home we played board games and had more cake, and finally, he's requested Waffles for supper. Not a bad day when you're five. Actually, come to think of it, not a bad day when you're quite a bit older either.

On Tuesday, we leave for a mini-vacation. We're going to visit the life-sized replica of Noah's ark in Kentucky. We'll only be gone for three days, but I'm so looking forward to it. We're staying at an Airbnb which we've only done once before with the kids. I'm hoping that goes well.

We've rented a small cabin near Williamstown, KY. It's supposed to be located at the back of a small farm, and it has a kitchen where we can make meals if we want which will cut down on costs a little. Should be fun.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Happy birthday to Nathan! He sounds like he would get along with my four years old dinosaurs' lover.

message 160: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments I'm sure he would, Sandra. It's dinosaurs and sharks all the way at our house right now.

message 161: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments Sounds like a perfect birthday Tricia!

I was away working at the weekend and have woken up this morning with a really bad headache. Not a migraine thankfully although the pain isn't far off. I was planning on an easier day today anyway but it will have to be a lot easier now.

message 162: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments That sounds so nice Tricia!

Hope your headache goes away Sarah.

I've been sick all weekend. I even had to cancel the high tea with my sister and cousin. I mostly lay on the couch and read a little, watched tv and slept. Feeling much better now of course, when it's Monday and I have to work again.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments So, after the terms and conditions talk at the new job the decision wasn't very difficult, and I've decided to take the new job. Exciting!! I broke the news at my current job yesterday and they weren't happy but they understood. The plan is now that in February I'll work half of the week at the old job to finish up some stuff and already start half of the week at my new job, and then from March I'll be at the new one full time. It's moving so fast suddenly! February is only 2 weeks away!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Exciting news Peggy! Congrats!!
Good luck with the transition period. Great that your current job, although not happy, are letting you go in the middle of teaching.

message 183: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Yes, they're very kind which I'm very grateful for! By law, they could force me to work fulltime for them until April 1. But they just told me that as I had made my decision, they would now try to make the transition as easy as possible for me. I then offered to work part time in February because I know there's some work I'm supposed to do in February that will be very hard to find a replacement for on such short notice, and they were very happy with that. And the new job, knowing that I might not be able to start until April, was also very happy when I offered to start part time in February already. So everybody's happy, yay :)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments On the issue of not being able to comment in the app anymore. More people appear to have this issue, and someone noticed that it only happens when you access a thread through your notifications. If you access a thread through your groups and then searching for the thread, the comment box is there.

This is not much easier than changing the birth date like Sandra figured out, but at least another way to post.

I notice that I'm posting less here on days when I don't have my computer on, because it's such a hassle to either change my birthdate again, or to go from the app to the actual website on my phone and post there. I hope they fix it soon.

Jenn | 3029 comments That’s awesome Peggy! (Now to rub shoulders with Peggy in the hopes that some of her employment Ju-Ju rubs off on me)

message 187: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments And, on the subject of app oddities . . . I can comment fine from my notification list in the app, but if I try to look at any comment made on Rusalka’s pages it promptly kicks me completely out of the app. Yes, I know, that’s what I get for being nosy 😞

My app is working better. I didn't need to do "magic" to comment from it in the last 5 or 6 days. So there is light at the end of the tunnel... I guess...

message 189: by Peggy (new)

Hm, weird Jenn!

I wrote to the feedback group and all of that. I haven't heard from then yet, so I don't know if they fixed something or if I am just being lucky.

Jenn | 3029 comments Rusalka wrote: "Big brother is watching..."

Oh my, Rusalka, I didn't know your reading list was so subversive . . .

message 194: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments I reckon it's the little icons you are using Rusalka! Sorry you are all struggling with the app. I haven't used it for years now - always use the site now through a browser on my phone and kindle.

message 195: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I tried but have no issues with Rusalka's thread. I can also see all the little icons.

I did notice that when I access threads through the group spoilers are not hidden. When I use notifications, spoilers work fine.

message 196: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments I noticed that the app kicks me out if I open like 10 or more threads in a short time. About the spoilers: when on the app, there’s no link I can click on. It just says “spoilers removed”.

message 197: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Do you have the newest version of the app, Fiona? That 'spoilers removed' thing was always an issue in the old app (you simply couldn't read spoilers in it - nobody could, it was just how the app worked), but the newer versions allow you to view spoilers.

Maybe an older version also explains why you get kicked out sometimes.

message 198: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments I still can't read spoilers in my app, Peggy, and I'm updated to the most current updates. Did you have to delete and reinstall your app to get a newer version or just do updates? I've also been kicked out of one or two threads, but I've never had an issue with the comments box.

message 199: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments It's weird isn't it, how we all have different issues?

I just did the automatic update, not reinstalled anything.

message 200: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I didn't have to reinstall the app for getting the new version that allows reading spoilers, Kristie. It just happened in a routine update. Do you use Android or iOS? Maybe not everything was updated.
