You'll be good. But don't push it if you're not good. Been having this convo with a workmate this week. One day off more is worth it if it means you're fully healed and doesn't cause complications/gets rid of issues that takes more time off work later. Always worth the extra day. Enjoy the drugs and the reads ;)

Sarah | 18550 comments Good luck with the surgery Fiona.

I've been on a first aid course today. Best one I've ever been on .learnt so much more stuff. I guesd it pays to have a paramedic as a trainer. I even learnt how to use a defibrillator .

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments Hi all back from our trip. It was amazing. Our room was upgraded. We were right on the beach. Our seventh floor balcony had an incredible view of the sunrise. The weather was unseasonably warm so we were able to "swim " in the ocean. I use the word swim loosely. LOL we basically put on suits and let our ankles get wet.Niether of us are strong swimmers.

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments Update on the surgery: it went well (I guess) but the anesthesia starts to wear off and that is not feeling nice. I got 12 anesthetic syringes! Oh and I’m not allowed to work for 2 weeks.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I'm glad the surgery went well, Fiona. Now you're on your way to recovery. :)

Sarah | 18550 comments Fiona wrote: "The doctor said I will cry for my mother a lot and I absolutely believe him."

That's not a very positive thing for a doctor to say. I always marvel (from a hypnotherapist point of view) the language (read suggestions) medical staff use when speaking to patients. Not all of them of, course. Every time I've had an injection though I'm told there'll be a short sharp scratch. It's really not a helpful thing to say. And I am not anxious or fearful (now) of needles. But for those who are, it really isn't comforting. Haha.

Anyway, glad the operation went well Fiona. Wishing you a speedy recovery .

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Glad it went well Fiona!

Sarah, I'm not fearful of needles either, but why is that such a bad thing to say? I can imagine it's comforting to know exactly what will happen. If I'm at the doctor or dentist or something and I'm nervous, I really like it when they tell me step by step what they're doing and what to expect.

message 1921: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments Today I only feared that they will begin to cut before everything is numb. That wasn't the case but I have been cut with a scalpel without anesthesia before and I can tell you that was the worst pain in my life.

message 1922: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Yikes Fiona! I can imagine you feared that.. what happened the other time? Did something go wrong with the anesthetics?

message 1923: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments I had an appendectomy and a few days later, one of the incisions was really infected. My doctor sent me to the hospital saying they have to cut it open again, with anesthesia. But they just cut it without anesthesia. And now I have a deep scar on my belly looking like a second belly button.

Oh no! I hope not... yikes. Two weeks is a lot longer than you expected to be out of work. I hope you heal quickly and it's not as bad as you expect.

That is appendectomy story is horrifying!

message 1925: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments That's horrible Fiona!

message 1926: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments It was really horrible. Luckily it was a few years ago so it’s not that bad anymore.
My night was terrible. I slept 2 hours and then I just cried and screamed until my sister brought me some pills 4 hours later.

It can build anticipatory anxiety. But clearly not in everyone. :-) Sometimes the language used can cause a nocebo effect (like with mentioning side effects).

message 1928: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks for explaining Sarah. That makes sense. I think it would definitely increase anxiety in me if I knew hours or days or weeks before that I was going to endure something painful, but when the moment is actually there, I like to be informed ;-)

Margo | 11628 comments Fiona, hope all goes well.

I'm back to my dermatologist today. The tar treatment is "burning" my skin and my psoriasis is spreading. I think the next step is medication :(

message 1934: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments The pain got less and I got a little sleep last night, so that’s good. But I have a cold now :D

That doesn’t sound good, Margo!

Sarah, I missed this post. Well, the spider broach didn't go diwn too well with me - gave me the shivers! Loved what it's weared said though :-)

Watching the news tonight it seems like Boris and Leo are starting to move to middle ground. I was a bit peturbed by the skimming over of details though. If there any kind of hard boarder here Leo of finished here. But equally, we cannot afford a no-deal brexit. Our economy is smaller than Britans, we would perish. Both parties know this I suspect that what they will do is rebrand Mays deal, call the "backstop " something elsemand bobs your uncle! But, the EU has the final say over its borders.

Boris "plan" last week proved how little he understood the situation. That is pretty unforgiveable as he is leader of the entirity of northern ireland (for his sins) and not just of Theresa May and her bunch of merry facists LOL

Too much blood, sweat and tears went into the Good Friday Agreement, too many concessions were made by radicalists on both sides to see it being pissed away by a crowd of public school toffs with their outdated notions of entitlement.

And here endith the rant...

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm on a surprise weekend away. We were given a destination to drive in this morning and there we got the actual destination. We're in the south of Belgium, the French part, in a beautiful region called The Ardennes. I've been to the region before but not here, so that's great! We were also given a huge suite and I think breakfast tomorrow will be delicious. They said there would be home made apple juice with apples from their own garden.
