Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I did my back two years ago head checking in the car. I had to pull over, Lexx drove me home, and I was on the couch for 3 days. That shattered any illusion I still had of being young lol.

Hope the massage made you feel better Kristie!

message 1854: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19147 comments I've also said before that I feel as though I'm in my 90s getting out of bed in the morning. Getting creaky. lol

Thanks, Rus. It definitely helped. I think I'll have to go back again though because I can still feel it. When it started it wasn't too bad, but it got to the point that I could hardly move without feeling it pull. Now it is back to being a little sore and I just have to be careful not to lift too much or move too fast. I think if I go again in a couple of days that will prevent it from getting worse again.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Rest up and drink lots of water. And a follow up sounds like a good idea.

And on the old person note, as of 8pm tonight Lexx and I are now a Great Aunt and Uncle. I have mixed feelings about this...

Our niece and bub are doing great, and she looks like she's gone for a jog instead of giving birth. Damn youth!!!

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Oh so sorry to say this Rusalka, but Great Aunt does make one sound old! ;-)

Congrats though!

Janice (jamasc) | 59896 comments I no longer have the pleasure of jumping up out of a bed or chair, and moving forward. I stand up and make sure all body parts are in agreement before walking away.

Wow Rusalka, I’m so sorry 😳 . . . um, congratulations 🤷‍♀️. . . welcome to the world little sprout 🎉🌱🎉

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm going to yoga class for the 3rd week in a row tonight. I'm really enjoying it and actually start looking forward to class a few days before already. I bought 3 trial lessons to start, but I'll continue after this.

message 1861: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19147 comments Aw congratulations Rusalka! The title sound old, but you won’t be called that, right? Just aunt/uncle? I understand old sounding titles; I’m a Nonna. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that little one.

Janice, I feel you...

Peggy, glad you’re enjoying the yoga. I really want to get back to it once my back heals. I really enjoyed it too.

message 1862: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59896 comments I'm off to yoga tonight. It's a yin class, my favourite. Hopefully it will combat some of this stress.

Congratulations! Of course you’ll be a “great” aunt.

message 1864: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Thanks all. I love the congratulations, even though I have done absolutely nothing to contribute to this lol. Should happen more often!!

It is funny. The title does sound very old. We don't really use titles in Lexx's family, besides Mum, Dad, Nan, etc. The age range and cross overs are so weird it just has never made sense. Everyone else is just their name.

For example Lexx's aunt has just turned 52 and retired (lucky duck) and now is a Great Great Aunt. Her brother was Lexx's stepdad, who's parents decided after he and his sister moved out of home to go for round two. K who's just retired, was born in the year between Lexx's brother and sister, even though she's their aunt.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments In the Netherlands (not so much the south where I'm from but the more north you get the worse it becomes. And the older the average age at the birthday the worse it is too) it's tradition that when you go to a birthday, you congratulate not only the birthday-person, but everyone who's already there. And not just in general, no, each person separately. It does not make sense to me.

message 1866: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Oh wow. Like "good on you for knowing someone *this* old"? I'm not sure how else to read that tradition.

People are weird :D

message 1867: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments Congrats, Rusalka :)

We have some weird age things going on in our family too. My grandma's half-brother was just 2 years older than my oldest uncle (unfortunately both my uncle and great uncle died). Also the son of this uncle is just one month younger than my youngest aunt and my cousin's son is just 10 days younger than me. This is all so weird. My sister and I are my grandma's youngest grandchildren with 21 and 23 :D

message 1868: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Congrats Rusalka. I would take 'great aunt' to mean you're going to be great at being an aunt!

Good going on the yoga Peggy. I hope your session helps you relieve some stress Janice! I'm jealous of your massage Kristie.I so need one.

I've been fighting a cold. I used the first defence stuff and it kept it on my chest. I was very pleased. But yesterday my sinuses started giving me hassle. Oh well, it could be worse.

Things are stressful here because of brexit looming. I've spoken to so many people who are worried about what is going to happen .again I've been glued to the news ,especially the supreme Court stuff. Amazing really. Loved the judge's spider brooch too. I want one. Now Boris has put forward a new brexit agreement but it's still awful . How is it being perceived in Ireland Margo? It doesn't look great from the little knowledge I have about the situation over there. And looks like government is being prorogued again next week. From one day to the next at the moment things seem to change. It all feels so unstable.

It's been very interesting watching. I am so glad I am not affected really, unlike you guys in the UK and Ireland in particular. I just cannot see it working out at all.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Vacation over. Across the street was the Aladdin play so we went one night. It was great. the whole trip was great. One day we just went to the world of beer and drank pitchers then went and napped lol. Getting home didn't go so well and after delays we finally got to the halfway home airport to see more delays and finally cancellation at midnight and I said done. We'll get a hotel room then rent a car and drive the 5 hours I'm sick of airports so we did

Lol

message 1875: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciareadsitall) | 900 comments Wow! I've been out of touch for a couple of months. Mostly with just general life business, but it's good to be back. I'm going back and reading through some of the posts I've missed, and it seems like everyone has had a busy time of it.

I'm not going to respond to all of those posts because it would take forever; so I'll just jump back in here.

Since I've been gone, my daughter celebrated her 13th birthday and it was like the teenager gene kicked in right on schedule. lol Then, we started a new school year, an 8th grader and a kindergartener this year, and that has definitely made things interesting. I didn't really teach my oldest to read; she kind of did that on her own, but my son is a whole different set of challenges. So we've been working hard and making progress little by little, but those first couple of weeks, I thought I was going to lose my mind. I kept researching and questioning the choices of curriculum that I'd made and all kinds of fun stuff. We're kind of on track now though; so my stress level has gone waaay down. lol I will survive kindergarten; I'm almost sure of it.

message 1893: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks guys, much appreciated. Went to see the family this afternoon and everyone is doing as well as can be expected. He has left his body to medical science at one of the university medical schools. We find out tomorrow if they'll accept him, as there are some causes of death they won't accept. So if they have him, there won't be a funeral ,just a memorial service when his ashes back come back.

I love the medical school idea, I hope it works out. I know my Dad was super keen for people to learn as much as they could from him, in order to help others. Sounds like Rob's stepdad had the same thoughts, and that's lovely.

Fiona (fiiicoooo) | 270 comments I also love that idea!

I’m getting surgery on my foot tomorrow and I’m so nervous about it even though it’s just a tiny one. But the good thing is I can lay on the sofa and read for a few days :D
