Well done you. Keep us posted on the bee comings and goings. We have a hive of native bees in our garden, and it's great to watch them so busy in and out of the hive.

Wow, Sarah. What an adventure.

Sarah | 18550 comments Party sounds great Sandra!

Nice haul Esther! I do love a pick you own place. I remember going strawberry, raspberry and current picking a few times as a kid. I often ended up eating loads too. Not done it in such a long time. Also runner beans, although I wasn't so keen on doing that as I never had anything to eat whilst doing it. Haha! I like the sound of getting squashes. There is never much of a selection in the supermarkets. I wanted to make pumpkin and lime pickle rice the other day and could not find a small pumpkin or similar squash anywhere. We ended up using butternut squash.

Lilisa | 2770 comments What a wonderful opportunity Sarah - sounds like you had an exhilarating time - great pics. Rusalka - I'm impressed - the bee hive looks great. Have you read the book about bees - can't remember the title at the moment. I think it was a monthly read. Sandra - sounds like you had the family had lots of fun - i like the family group name! 😊

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Wow! The planes sound amazing, Sarah! How cool you could go up in them!!

Sandra, I love squirrels. My brother and Lexx got super annoyed when we were in the UK in 2013, and I just started chasing after everyone I saw. The party sounds like a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. Very jealous!

Renee, good to know about the local honey! I hear so many wives tales, it's great when one is true. We were willing to risk it obviously as the bees are important, but nice to know it will probably help.

Esther, I agree with Sarah. We did berry places like that as a kid, but I have never heard it in regards to pumpkins. I love having random pumpkins around though over winter. I had to laugh though Sarah, when you said you couldn't find pumpkins and had to get butternut squash. Butternut pumpkins are the go to pumpkins in Australia, they are my default when I think of pumpkins so I was thinking "she couldn't find butternuts, so she went with... butternuts..."
We also have Japs and Queensland Blues to make up the three you find in the shops all the time here, but the usual two options are Butternuts and Japs. Just depends if you want the easy pumpkin (Butternuts) or the annoying one (Japs).

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Lilisa, I read The Secret Life of Bees. That one? Or maybe you're thinking of The Bees, which I have not read.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Your hive is beautiful, Rusalka. Is it one of the flow ones? I cannot remember the name. Hopefully, your bees will be gentle ones for Lexx's sake. He will definitely need to wear a bee suit, but the honey will be so worth it. I hope your swarm, when you catch it, will love their new home.

Yeah - I was referring to The Bees - great guess! I enjoyed that book and never would have picked it up - I can't recall how I ended up listening to it. This was before the group read but it was waaay more interesting than I thought it would be.

They enjoyed it they even clapped at the end. which ive never experienced at a movie before

message 1814: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Pretty sure we've discussed pumpkin terminology before. Haha. Yes butternut squash is the go to here too. It's nice to have others though on occasions to mix things up but I find it difficult to locate them.

I've only watched the first 2 episodes of the first season, so I would feel a bit lost too. I've heard that you can win an arrangement to stay for a night in the abbey next month.

Wow, the only time I've experienced applause at the end of a movie was was back in the 80s. That Steve Beko film about apartheid that made everyone want to change the world. Can't think of the name.

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments I am going on a surprise trip. A friend of mine and her husband had booked a bus trip to virgnia beach. Their daughter has been scheduled for a C-section tomorrow. Their trip leaves Sunday. The cannot get their money back but the company will let them transfer it to another. They have gifted it to me and my husband.

I have never been to Virgnia beach. I know it will be to cold to swim but I live in the middle of the continent. I can not wait to see an ocean. The hotel is right on the boardwalk. Our room does not have an ocean view but it is on the ocean. Try not to miss me cause I plan on having fun

Kristie | 19143 comments That’s wonderful, Renee! I hope you both have a great time. I was there two weeks ago and the weather was perfect. We were in the water that day. You never know this time of year how it will be. You may still have some days when you can go in the ocean. I think it’s supposed to be nice weather.

LOL on the pumpkins... that the only type usually do not bother with. the official pumpkin that is (big orange one). Not only did I end up with 7 types of squash but it was way cheap.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments So my sister in law made our reservations. We just called an Uber and blindly head off to our hotel. Get to the Ritz Carlton walk in and woman asks our name and is looking us up when another desk guy from across the room comes flying over, oh I'll take these guests. You have been upgraded to a suite, would you care for a complementary glass of champagne. Where is the rest of your luggage I will send people for it. Um sure on the champagne, we don't have luggage, just the backpacks on our backs. Oh traveling light terrific.
Wow Royal treatment. I'm just a simple country farmer but hey we'll take it. My wife says how much did this cost I say I don't know I thought you were going to pay your sister. She said she asked her sister and she told her that I had already paid for it all. We still don't know of we're supposed to pay her or if she gifted us this fancy hotel stay. She's not your typical sister in law I think it's safe to say. She's pretty amazing actually

Yes, I was doing some water exercises and had one of those moments when I thought my body was still young. It's been reminding me ever since that it's not. lol

So, this was the first massage I've ever gotten where the massage therapist climbed up on the table. It was pretty weird. But she was definitely able to identify the sensitive spots and work them out a bit. I'm home now with icy hot (again) and I took Advil and now I'm drinking water and resting. Hopefully, it will be better quickly. The massage did seem to help right away, but I don't want the effects to wear off.
