Watcha Doin' - 2019

@Lisa, congrats on the new haircut! It's always exciting to make a change. I have short hair now and have for a long time. I also have these really annoying bangs, and I'd like to let it all grow out, but every time I get to that point where it's long enough to be in my eyes but not long enough to pin back, I give up. I just can't stand it, and I end up going in and having it chopped off again.
We're nearing the end of Christmas break here, and I think I'm dreading going back to school more than the kids are. Since we homeschool, I get the same breaks as they do, and though my role is a bit different, I have close to the same school routine as well. That first week back is always a difficult one, and I'm not looking forward to it. Sleeping in and staying in pajamas all day has been wonderful. Plus, all their extracurricular activities start back up next week which means back to a crazy busy schedule.

Sarah, the asymmetrical choppy bob sounds really nice! You should go for it. Are you going to keep or get another undercut? I love being part of the undercut crew! 😉

Rusalka, nothing to be embarrassed about! Who hasn't fallen flat on her face on the way home from a wild party in the wee hours 😆 I'm sure your black eye will be a 9 day wonder when you go to work 😏
Sorry for laughing - you tell the tale so well but it must have hurt. Heal soon.

Makes my NYE things more embarrassing. But thank you all for sympathising, making my ego a little less bruised, and pointing out the amusingness. And I hope Rob is okay too, Sarah. Made me giggle too, which does help.
Hair sounds amazing Lisa! Hope it helps with the fibro. I hadn't heard of that issue/symptom but mum has very fine and short hair, so never been one of hers. But super interested to here if it helps!

She is in the right age bracket. :o) She hasn't been reading much lately. She is super busy with her job and her kids and planning a trip to Italy in the spring. She said she just falls asleep when she stops moving.

I just posted a message about it in the feedback group. I hope someone has a solution.

Enjoy, Abbie.

I didn't sleep well either. I slept only from 2am to 6am. Don't know why.

I woke up 2 nights ago and heard Rob talking in his sleep. I didn't catch all he was saying, but I did hear in a cheerful way: 'I'm still intact'. He couldn't remember what he dreamt about the next morning..

That's funny! :)

Wow. I am sure it has some funny interpretation. :)

Janice and Peggy: Hilarious!
Sarah: The hedgehog hurting his foot sounds so cute!

They've started a sound bath which I haven't been to yet, but my friend went last week. She said one of the participants fell so soundly asleep that the instructor had to wake her after the class was over. People were up, rolling their mats, putting on their coats, talking all the while this woman was fast asleep on the floor.

I tried your alphabet thing yesterday Janice, but I got all the way to M and decided it was not working. I have to keep my focus on the words I have to remember, for me it works better to do something that goes almost automatically.
I count down from 1000 with steps of 13 or 17 when I'm on a plane that's taking off. I hate it, and this keeps me occupied and focused on something else. I think your alphabet thing would work there for me.
What's a sound bath?

I LOVE plane take offs!

I had an interrupted night last night with something jumping on the carport roof just as I got to sleep, Lexx having a hypo at 2.30am, then a possum literally rolled down the roof and fell into the tree outside our bedroom window. I woke up to it tumbling down the iron roof, and worked out what it was by the shape in the tree (window and curtains are open with the heat at the moment). And just as I started dozing off again, he obviously recovered and started growling through the window trying to prove he was still manly. They sounds like the kid in the Grudge. Excuse the bad spelling on the youtube video (not mine), but this is the noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHulX...
Interesting techniques, will have to try them. Particularly to break my brain out of my fitting dreams and I get into loops trying to make objects fit into places and they don't (but i know they should).
I hate plane take offs and landings too, Peggy. Lexx loves them, Sandra. He grins like a 5 year old every time we take off.

Lol, well, it is a unique feeling. I can understand.

I don't think any of those tactics would work to help me sleep. I can't do anything that uses my brain because that is generally the only part of my body that doesn't want to sleep. I have to take melatonin and try to clear my head. Even listening to an older audio with a calm narrator might or might not work. It completely depends what mood my brain is in. It might just think, "Hey, I haven't heard this for a while. I should listen!"
Sorry, you had such a disruptive night, Rusalka. I can't imagine a possum rolling down my roof! I have to admit that I had a chuckle at that. Then, trying to keep up his street cred by growling at you. Too funny. Thanks for linking the video. I don't think I've ever heard a possum growl before.

It's a meditation where they use crystal bowls of different sizes to make musical sounds. It's supposed to be very relaxing.
If you ever watched the movie, "Miss Congeniality" with Sandra Bullock, you would have seen a similar principle. Her beauty pageant talent was to play a song using glasses filled with different levels of water. When she rubbed the rim, it made a musical note, and she played a song rubbing the rims in a specific order.

I find the word game stops my mind from focusing on the fact that I'm not sleeping, or on whatever my mind is hashing through to keep me from sleeping (worries, stresses, emotions, etc.)
It's based on a game that you play with a group. The first person says, "I'm going on vacation and I'm taking Aspirin."
Next person says, "I'm going on vacation and I'm taking Aspirin and a book."
"I'm going on vacation and I'm taking Aspirin, a book, and a camera."
When I first started this technique, I would say the entire sentence each time. Eventually, I got to the point where I just said the words.
I've changed the themes along the way - countries or cities I'd like to visit, flowers, books with one word titles, girl's names, boy's names. Now it's just words.
