For September I read The Massacre at El Mozote set in northern El Salvador. Easy to read but tough content.
I’m off to Puerto Rico to read Sirena Selena vestida de pena. But first I have to finish my Kazakstan book. The Eastern European/old USSR books are the slowest for me to get through. But I’m almost done with The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years.
Just finished my September book, En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule. In October, I will once again go back to Afghanistan, with Maudit soit Dostoïevski by Atiq Rahimi, a book which seems to be a kind of "Crime and Punishment" set in Afghanistan.
In November I’ll be in Venezuela with Bruchko: The Astonishing True Story of a 19-Year-Old American, His Capture by the Motilone Indians and His Adventures in Christianizing the Stone Age Tribe
I’m heading to Belize for my final 2021 TBR takedown. I’ll be reading Sastun: One Woman's Apprenticeship with a Maya Healer and Their Efforts to Save the Vani.

I am off to Russia for December, with the crime fiction L'Hôtel, which very fittingly takes place in a hotel cut off by a snowstorm

My nr 15 is Gertrud by Hermann Hesse so I'll be heading for Germany,
Laurie wrote: "I am headed to the Netherlands, reading Girl with the Pearl Earring"I've also got that book on my list but as number 5 =)
I’m kicking 2022 and my fifth TBR challenge off by heading to Lithuania, reading Vilnius Poker. I look forward to seeing where everyone heads to this year. Cheers!

I am looking forward to reading it.
I'll be sailing to Greenland, Norway and Russia with Le carnet Viking : 70 jours en mer de Barents by Anita Conti.
Well, I was 0 for 12 for 2021, so I can hardly do worse in 2022!#15 takes me to La Serenissima, City of Fortune: How Venice Won and Lost a Naval Empire
Keli wrote: "I'll be heading to Denmark with Smilla's Sense of Snow"I really want to read that one and then watch the movie.

Me too. It's supposed to be pretty good, both the book and movie. So fingers crossed 🤞🏽
I put some more non-fiction in my list this year, and will be starting the year with one of those books: The Elizabethan World Picture.
I read it a few years ago and it was good -- sort of a slow burn, but wonderful writing and sense of place.Keli wrote: "Simone wrote: "Keli wrote: "I'll be heading to Denmark with Smilla's Sense of Snow"

I'm heading to Lebanon An Unnecessary WomanFor the first time in 4 years, I had a DNF for January. Vilnius Poker wasn't for me - I felt like I was hopelessly lost in a Dali painting. But I did find another book for Lithuania which I'll try to also read in Feb, The Last Book Smuggler.
Simone wrote: "I'm traveling to Lithuania with Vilnius Poker" I will watch for your review on this book. I had it last month and I DNFd it after about 20 pages - and I almost never DNF a book. It has such high ratings, though, so I must be an outlier. I’m starting over with Lithuania and reading The Last Book Smuggler.
Doris wrote: "I've got South Africa and Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood."One of my favorite memoirs. The audible version is particularly good.
