I found this very creepy: Our library has a monthly reading challenge. This month the challenge is to read a science fiction/ fantasy book. I chose 1984 by George Orwell. At one time I remember starting this book and not getting very far so decided to give it another try. Remember the notable phrase from the book that probably everyone has heard, even if they haven't read the book-Big Brother is watching? (Reminds me of an old boss that was always watching the cameras to see what the staff was doing and it wasn't a casino, it was a nursing home). So I downloaded the book and thought I would just read a chapter before I get ready for work and on page 6 the main character is going to start a diary. The date of the first entry....April 4, 1984!!! Today is April 4!!

After reading Koren's April 4th coincidence above, I got home from work...on April 4th...and returned to reading I Am Cain. The 2nd page I turned to mentioned April 4th. And I just added a crime headline today about a body found in Ottawa County, MI. The book just mentioned that investigators were comparing their Winnetka, IL case to a similar one in Ottawa County, MI!

Another one to file under 'life in a small town'. Yesterday I picked up my oldest granddaughter and we were going 20 miles to pick up another granddaughter. I was going to call my son to tell him we were on our way. My car has voice command on the dash to call hands free so I said to call Nick T.... The voice said 'call Vickie'. My granddaughter got a kick out of me yelling at the car 'NOooooo. Not Vickie. So we tried it again. Same thing happened. My granddaughter is cracking up. Finally I just called from the actual phone. By the way, Vickie is my brother's ex-wife, who I think the last time I spoke to her was last fall. So on our way home we got to the corner of the town where Vickie lives and sure enough, passed her on the corner.
Just posted the murder of a woman named Kanike -- pronounced Kanika in the original German -- in Anniversaries under April 8. Then I had a list of duplicate books I wanted to GR librarians to combine, and as I was looking for the editions to send to them, I came across a book written by someone named Kanika.
Fishface wrote: "LOL. Did you both holler, "Not Vickie!!!" when you saw her?"Ha ha! No. My granddaughter actually doesn't remember her although I know she met her once. I just looked at her and said "You aren't going to believe this but...."
I saw my niece at a volleyball game today (Vickie's daughter) and told her about it so hopefully she will remember to tell her mom about it.
OK, this is super weird. I had a long dream last night that my best friend came over and we had a long talk. I don't think I've dreamed about him once since he died in 2005, of lymphoma. So this morning I ran into my co-worker at the water cooler and asked her how her husband's tests came out at the doctor's.
He has lymphoma.

Oh my. I do believe that when we dream about someone that is departed it is them coming to visit us.
I'm reading The Riverside Killer right now, and I was just looking at the General Chit Chat discussion on another forum and someone mentioned that she lives in Riverside.
The other day I was trying to think of the name of a childhood neighbor friend and for the life of me I couldn't remember her name. A few days later at work I remembered the name of my friend when I noticed the name of a client who had the same name as my friend but this woman was about 8 years too young to be the childhood friend.
I was at a work training Wednesday & Thursday. My ex lives in the area so he picked me up Wednesday to go to dinner. He had to go to his daughter's concert, I stayed there because he was going to come back after and we were going to another place to hang out a little longer. He sent me a text saying he was leaving the concert, I decided to walk to the second place. As I walking I looked at my phone and I was 7 minutes away, at the same time he sent me a text "I'm 7 minutes away."
I read to the the end of Diamond Street: The Story of the Little Town with the Big Red Light District and found an About The Author blurb. Along with other very interesting information, it said that his birthday is tomorrow.
When I posted the anniversaries for 4/11 I came across the names of Robert Succo's parents for the first time. I thought, "Huh. Nazario. That's a name I've never seen before in my life." Well, apparently that's not true because I'm now rereading Torture Killers and it mentions a police investigator named Nazario in the very first chapter.
Finally got my disc of MURDER IN COWETA COUNTY back from a co-worker and tonight I was watching the second half. Well, sir, the prosecutor was making his opening statement and said that Wilson Turner was murdered on April 20th, 1948. Today is April 20th, 2019...
This one is bizarre even for me. I went to my last appt today and there was a ukulele on the floor in one of the rooms. At my only appt yesterday, another kid excitedly showed me her brand-new ukulele that is bigger and more expensive than her other one. It just dawned on me a minute ago that last Thursday I was in a meeting with yet another kid who mentioned she was trying to learn to play the ukulele. What exactly is going on here?
Fishface wrote: "This one is bizarre even for me. I went to my last appt today and there was a ukulele on the floor in one of the rooms. I was at a wedding this past weekend and a group consisting the groom's family got up and sang an original song to the tune of Edelweiss and two of the people had ukuleles.
I mentioned in the above post that I was at a wedding last weekend, my niece's. At the reception I was visiting with two of my brothers-in-law about a local man who had died recently. His brother John had just passed away two months ago and he also had a brother Jim that had passed away. The coincidence was that the two guys I was talking to were named Jim and John.
That is faintly creepy, Koren! I wonder whether good old Jim and John felt a crow walking over their graves during that conversation...Back to the totally stupid. I was just on Pinterest pinning goldfish photos for my virtual fishtank, and a photo of a "galaxy" marble came up on the feed. What struck me was the caption on the photo: "First Act MG501 Ukulele."
Maybe I read too much into these coincidences or notice things other dont, I dont know, but yesterday at work I was talking to a coworker about someone that lives in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. That night, when reading The Manson Women and Me: Monsters, Morality, and Murder, on p. 102 Eau Claire, Wisconsin was mentioned.
Fishface wrote: "Huh! And is that one a good read, by the way?"I'm not half way yet. It started good but now its losing me because it is getting to be more about the author than about the women.
A little bit of a coincidence...Reading Inside Scientology: The Story of America's Most Secretive Religion and it mentions Peggy Lipton, who tried to get her then-boyfriend Elvis Presley interested in Scientology. Elvis checked it out and said there was no way he would join, all they wanted was his money. The coincidence is that Peggy Lipton just died 3 days ago. Had'nt thought of her in years and all of a sudden....
Fishface wrote: "I'd say that's more than a little bit."I didn't know Elvis was her boyfriend at one time.
I was over at a previous workplace this morning getting orientation for a program I am going to be donating time to -- child trauma assessments. The coincidence here is that the person I was meeting with told me that the child trauma assessment program started the exact day well-known child traumatizer Michael Jackson croaked.
One day not too long ago my supervisor asked me whether I've ever felt my dad's presence since he died in 2008. I had to say it only happened once or twice. Well, that same day I saw his initials on license plates 3x -- very unusual since I always read people's plates to see if they suggest anything to me, and I almost never see my dad's initials.Well, it happened again today at the corner of M-59 and Latson Road, as I was going to an appointment, and I was attaching no special importance to it until it hit me right between the eyes: today is the anniversary of my dad's death. Sure enough, I saw his initials on another car on the way back to the office.

I was in line today at Costco and dead ahead of my checklane was a woman playing a "uke" -- on loudspeaker, yet. What is going on here!?
Far more happily, I was just now finishing up a reading challenge -- read about someone you admire -- by completing the eagerly-anticipated Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime -- and on the last page discovered, 5 minutes ago, that today is also the anniversary of the author's second wedding. Coolness!

This isn't precisely a coincidence, but it fits better in this discussion than anywhere else. A guy on a message board I belong to asked me how long I've been interested in TC and explained how he used to read it himself, but "my interest began to wayne."Freudian slip?

I was just listening in dismay to a WWJ news announcement about an off-duty police sergeant in Garden City who was killed by her angry ex. I changed the station after the story and the first song I found was the last few bars of "I Shot The Sheriff."

I was looking at a picture on Facebook of some people holding a wombat and they thought it was a cat. (It was a joke). Just a few seconds after I saw it I heard someone talking on the tv about a wombat. Strange, as there aren't many wombats in Minnesota.
For some reason, the theme of the day has been ska music and because 3 different people asked me today what it was, I have had ska playing in my head, specifically the Specials hit "A Message To You Rudy," about how a certain guy needs to stop acting stupid if he doesn't want to land himself in jail. Well, I called to confirm an appointment just now, and the parents asked if we could meet at the courthouse, because a certain criminal genius got busted again for yet another crime and may be headed to lockup. It matches the content of the song lyrics perfectly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbqiC...
Interesting, Fishface, because just a couple of days ago an older friend of mine was commenting on a son's adopted cat, and she couldn't understand why he had named the cat such a strange name, 'Ska' (she even spelled it out for me). Can't say I hear about Ska that often.
These days nobody does! Here's another musical one: the past couple of days I've had pieces of that song "Right Place, Wrong Time" in my head and I really wanted to hear the whole thing. Couldn't remember who recorded it, though. After 2 days of that I opened my weekly news magazine and learned that Dr. John -- whose only Top 10 hit was "Right Place, Wrong time" -- had just died.
I just read an article that said if you find a coin it is a sign from a loved one or an angel. For instance, look for something on the coin that is a coincidence. There might be a date on the coin that has significance, like maybe it might be the year a loved one died and then it is saying it could be a sign from that person. I dont find coins as much as I used to but I am going to start paying more attention when I go for my walks.
