We Are Never Meeting In Real LifeI originally selected this for the LOL category, but it fits this one better. Her voice is not like anything I have read. It took me a few essays to get into it but I am glad I did. She sees the world in an inherently different way than I do and challenges me as a winner of the privilege trifecta.
I am still processing my thoughts about the book which, in and of itself, is a good reason for recommending it.
I'm reading an American Marriage now and thought it could fit into this category. I was thinking of reading We Are Never Meeting In Real Life for my LOL book as well, Dave. It sounds really good!
When I saw that Religion different than you was a choice, I thought about reading about people who join a cult. Here are my ideas:Member of the Family: My Story of Charles Manson, Life Inside His Cult, and the Darkness That Ended the Sixties
Escape
Breaking Free: How I Escaped My Father-Warren Jeffs-Polygamy, and the FLDS Cult
Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief
