Lol, it's not a big book but you need the tissues!

Yes I did - in my early teens - was my introduction to risqué stories - but really they weren't at all. But to a giggly 13 year old they were quite naughty - imagine a woman going to bed with a man without being married to him!

Yeah I know it was the hippy peace man era - but no one had told my mum that!

I've got that lined up for the spring challenge, didn't realise it was a romance as well. Whoo hoo - a double dip read :)

That's the one! I think we all thought they were a bit risqué at the time!

The easiest way to get hold of a romance - I borrowed one from my mum. It's called The Haunting by Alan Titchmarsh and although it has a bit of supernatural stuff in it mum guarantees it is a romance:)

Isn't he the celebrity gardener. Use to love his show where he went in and secretly overhauled someone's garden. Didn't like the Aussie version at all..

My mum used to watch his TV shows in England and has been reading his fiction for years. It is quite good!

Lily Malone | 102 comments I like Lee's comment earlier about looking for some kind of romance in the story no matter what the genre. I'm like that too. My favourite reads are crime thrillers (John Sandford/Michael Robotham/Leah Giarratano) yet a lot of the time my favourite parts of these books are the relationships and the sexual tension between characters.
Yes I'm happy to see the cop get the bad guy, but I also like to see him/her get the girl/guy.
Interesting posts & comments. I've enjoyed reading through.

I read them all when a teenager (science fiction and Georgette Heyer were my other favourites) and loved them - she was just sooo silly!!!! But I have several at home and scour second hand bookshops for them as they have never been reprinted (to my knowledge).

Also just looking on Amazon and I'm pretty sure I've got Angelique Book 1 at home and they say it's worth $200 used!!!! I might be worth something after all!

Wow! Quick- dig out all your old books. You might be worth a fortune.
I never bought any of them. While I was reading them I actually worked in a library in England and I used to read them before they went on the shelves for loan. They were vey popular in those days and had a long reservation list.

Had a look last night - no luck - I have book 2 (2 copies!) so not worth much after all. There is a book shop in Kalamunda (WA) that had 3 hard copies a few years ago, but I didn't have any money so had to leave them behind!

I have loved them since I was about 12 when my Mum introduced me to them. They are so detailed and informative about the period (mostly Regency England) and the 'romance' for me takes second place. Nice gentle with a good adventure of some sort. the go to books when you need to read but don't want to think too much!
