Dennis Sharpe (witlesslackey) | 34 comments So... as the author... I'm the only person who has seen this book... in it's raw form. It has not even been sent to my editor yet, but today I find that someone whose information is all private has rated it. Is this normal?

Just curious.

For the record, this is the book in question:

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Ratings can mean anything on Goodreads, everything from how excited someone is for a book to be coming out to the scale Goodreads suggests to anything in between. A book can be rated from the moment it appears in the database.

Aside from that, and just FYI, Librarians have nothing to do with ratings or reviews. We only curate the data in the book database (typos in titles, making sure books are associated with the correct author, that sort of thing).

Dennis Sharpe (witlesslackey) | 34 comments It was only a question... I wasn't expecting any action be taken. I just wasn't sure if it was common to have 3 star reviews show up on books that are still only in a longhand format on college ruled paper... nothing more.

:D

Lobstergirl Usually, but not always, a rating for a book not yet released, perhaps not even written, is from someone who has read earlier books in the series and is expressing their level of enthusiasm for the yet-to-be-released book in the series. So perhaps that is one of your regular readers.
