I think it is kind of a cult classic. Not scary - it's about a group of boys who spend Halloween time traveling with Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud (possibly Death) discovering the origins of Halloween while trying to save their friend, Pip. Not a kid's book really but a short read with great illustrations. I love the cover art.

yes the cover is funny! I'm halfway through, and sadly I don't really like it. It could have been a very funny book, but I dislike the MC/author with every chapter more, even if he reminds us several times what a nice, well-liked person he is. So maybe it's me, not him. Will finish it, though, no worry! Keep switching from that one to Einstein's Monsters: The Life and Times of Black Holes whenever he aggravates me a lot, and this one is a very interesting book, but nothing you (I) can read on the brink of falling asleep or in a very noisy tram, so switching between the two of them works very well for me :D
