Karen | 621 comments I finished Z for Horizon with Rascal by Sterling North. What a lovely book! The autobiographical story of a young boy raising a raccoon in a tiny mid-western town at the close of WW1.

oh no! I'm so sorry to here that! Our pets are huge parts of our lifes, and it's very sad to let them go, especially with pets that have such a close connection to us... it's almost two years since we lost our cat, and I'm still sad about her from time to time (I wont feel so much if one of my daughter's snails would die, though)

I liked it! I usually read/listen to such serious things, and much of this was in fact, serious, but it was a little lighter in many ways and I found many of the characters quite enjoyable. She covered a lot of territory didn't she?

first book's MC was written horribly stupid - should probably be some kind of slapstick funny, but wasn't
