Fiction: a man and a woman are stranded in a cabin during a blizzard. The woman is without a car, and the man has given her a ride to the cabin from the grocery store. Then, he gets stuck there. The snow starts and continues for two days or so. They run out of food, heat, and water. Ultimately the cabin breaks apart and is swept away into an icy river, but the couple has formed a lasting bond. I read this book in 2017 or 2018. The author was a man. The setting may have been Maine, or Vermont, or New Hampshire.

Kris, it is a love story as "serious" fiction, not a romance novel as romance genre. Couple is not married. The woman is essentially homeless, she is a military widow from the war in Afghanistan or Iraq. The man is recovering from a failed marriage to a controlling lawyer. It is also a survival novel in that both people learn about themselves in the face of the extreme adversity of the blizzard. Their ages: middle to late 30s. I am quite sure the novel was written in the last ten years. Very high quality literary-level writing. I really wish to recover the name and author. Tone: action and romantic. Thank you!

Success! I have found this book with assistance from a wonderful librarian in the Anne Arundel County Public Library system. Bill Roorbach is the author: The Remedy for Love" . Excellent combination of a psychological thriller - the tension of the couple's relationship combined with actual physical challenge of the blizzard. The librarian used a program called "Novelist" to find the author and title.
