This can be fiction or nonfiction and include a whole variety of topics. We look forward to seeing what you pick.

Annalisa | 20 comments I'm a little confused what qualifies for this. It seems there are a lot of ways to think about it. Today I picked up two books that might work. I got "Them: Why We Hate Each Other and How to Heal" by Ben Sasse. Its supposed to be about the current political division between right and left and how it might actually be more a symptom of our loneliness. It sounds interesting and like a current event I think. I also got "I'll be Gone in The Dark" by Michelle McNamara. I dont know if that works. I'll read both either way unless they are awful and I need to stop but I dont think that will be the case.

Danielle (librarian19) | 45 comments I think this could really be any topic that is in the current newsphere. I know a lot of people have been coming in looking for books on ketogenic diet. That would count. The book by Ben Sasse definitely sounds like it fits. Honestly, no one wants to totally police this so pick a book that you are interested in and let us know what you think.

Danielle is right! This was purposely vague because there are so many stories that can be considered "current". Either of those choices are good.

Shannon (libraryshann) | 15 comments I just finished Heroine by Mindy McGinnis. This is a book about the opioid epidemic told from the point of view of a teenage girl who becomes an addict. At times very difficult to read but so well written and powerful. Definitely recommend!

I hope this is the place to comment. I listened to this last year as part of another challenge. (The category was a book that is a metaphor). I had NO idea what to expect but I did enjoy it.

Caren | 18 comments Another difficult category for me and my avoidance of all that anxiety news . While cleaning audio books I came across an anthology, Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture , it was doubly powerful as an audio book.
