I think the author has Samantha as one of her names

I don't know which book in the series but one had her(the fighter) going on a going on a quest for her dragon girlfriend in which she was a group. The met hostiles and she sat back waiting while the others fought, when asked she replied that's she replied that she was waiting for a really big hostile and the proceeded to deal with said hostile very efficiently
