They're on the chart now. I feel the same way about The Book Thief. There are a few books I might never do without a buddy read or group read.

I would! I moved it to your number, so we are all set if it is called.
Nancy can you add this-AJ and I both have it # 36

Amy this is just a summary of the remaining buddy reads we have now, as of the October pick. I've updated this a few times this year. This is NOT what I am proposing for 2020.
Though, as people consider making changes to their list for 2020, they might want to consider the books that other people have selected for buddy reads.

I'm doing the same thing Cora. This is the same list we've had all along, I just eliminated the used numbers.

The original numbers 1-36 are shown next to the book names, with blanks for the used numbers.
The 1-24 numbers are shown to the left (some are in blue). The books are in the exact same order.
If you want to make swaps, this would be a good starting point. I think most people would prefer to keep the list in order, and swap out a few books as we did in June. They may want to join an existing buddy read.

I’d like to join in when you read sand and ash. I have gentleman from Moscow in that slot now, so it would just be an extra book for me.

When this idea originally came out, it came from Amy (I believe, I could be wrong). She stepped up and said she would spearhead it. I think Amy is just trying to make it happen in the easiest and similar way as most challenges happen here. If this were being handled by the the Mods, I seriously doubt any of this discussion would be happening. Let's just sit back, and see what Amy has come up with. Without any bad or hurt feelings.
Nancy, I for one appreciate all you did with the Buddy Reads this year. There are a couple of books (The High Mountains of Portugal -*bleah*) I would have never gotten through without them. I am looking forward to them again. However, so many of us have stated we are changing out books, I just think should wait until everything else is set.
BooknBlues, I really don't think Amy was talking to directly to you-just making a general statement for everyone to wait a bit.
Again, just my thoughts

Amy will set up a new thread for 2020 with her plan. Take it away Amy!

So the moderators have been working really super hard on the exciting real and official challenges they are planning for next year, and I am sensitive to wanting our group focus to be there and not have this optional challenge overshadow that. Plus, we may want to know what kinds of things we might be reading for 2020 before we recreate or create our extra lists. So even though I said I would publish a planning and organizational thread for this by or around tomorrow, it feels to me that even that is too early. What I can say is this. Nancy, I deeply appreciate your suggestion about how to reorder the numbers to 24, but I am inclined to have the buddy reads that people were created and were excited about stay at the same number. As we could see late last night, its confusing for everybody to move them. I think any of the remaining buddy reads between 25-34, I can slip into numbers we used in 2019, and that will be more streamlined. So anyone who wants a jump on this, and really feels compelled to start on this side challenge now, can already be clear that any current buddy read through the number 24 is going to stay in the same place. I would look at Nancy's post #167 to see what they were/are, and rest assured, I/we will put the remaining ones in the missing (used) places. When the thread is opened, we will publish the list, and it will be clear where new spots are, or if your group read doesn't include others on the same number you are good to go. Again, this is meant to be a fun thing for those who want to continue and join, and its meant to be inclusive, and as with everything we do on Goodreads, with good and loving tone. Again, if I have or ever miss that mark, please accept my apology and know it was never my intention to harm. I love all of you guys, and love reading and sharing ideas and lives with you. I recognize that like life, feelings can get hurt, and that people can bristle. But always I think our connection, our care for one another, and what makes us jazzed up - unites us, and unites us more strongly than division ever could. Its why we do this, and keep coming back. Lets let this Optional Trim 2020 Continuation breathe, and everyone have a beautiful blessed Thanksgiving. With love to you all, Amy
