I would stick to nonfiction research. Here's something I learned from someone I know who is now retired FBI (met him when he still worked there). His last stint was in white collar crime. I joked that TV probably had it all wrong because there wouldn't be all that shooting, but he said that actually there is (even most FBI people don't know that.)
SO, even those tackling white collar crimes have to continually train with weapons. NO ONE can shoot well, etc, without continual training because you don't have time to stop and think about what to do once the guns come out. ALSO no one IRL shoots two guns at once.
In addition, his wife worked there, but not as an agent. I don't remember what she did, but she wasn't in administration.
Even though Sue Thomas F. B. Eye is based on a real story, it won't be realistic enough. "Based on real" doesn't mean real.
Check out the FBI website to see if they have information they give out as well.



I haven't started writing yet, but I'm doing NaNoWriMo, so I should start soon! I'm excited about that!
