Give The Breach by Patrick Lee a try. It's the first book of a trilogy but it can be read without having to continue if you chose. It does include some battling (some more intense than others), the scenes are well done and the suspense is intense. It has military action, but not in the traditional sense; most hinge on espionage, conspiracies, and classified supernatural knowledge. It doesn't fit your criteria entirely, but it is fast paced and loaded with action. I really think you'll enjoy the main character as well. Despite it's heavy sci-fi fantasy references, the book makes it feel believable therefore heightening the enjoyability of it all. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi (mainly because most of them feel the same and I get bored with the concept) but this one I really enjoyed and ended up reading the whole trilogy. Rumors say that there is talk of making this into a movie: I think it would make an excellent candidate for exactly that. I hope this helps you in your search. Good luck and happy reading!

Thank you for the suggestion, I marked it as to-read , after I'll finish the broken eye I probably will start reading it. Thanks again, you are the only one who replied in almost 2 weeks :)

P.S: I kept saying SF, but if it's fantasy(probably i've read them all) or in the present, there's no problem, as long as there is war in it.
