Lizzie Chantree (goodreadscomlizzie_chantree) | 6 comments Hello everyone. I am an author, inventor and I'm passionate about new business and ideas. I self-published my first book last year, without approaching publishers as I had no idea where to start!
My book, Babe Driven, is selling well and I began thinking of ways to help other new authors and creatives to share or promote their work.
I started a networking event on Twitter called #creativebizhour and approached some people to join me. It is a wonderful way to find a new audience and readers for your work. We had well over 8.5 million impressions one week on the hashtag in one hour! This means that the people using the hashtag had their work seen by a vast array of people across the world.
If you would like to join in and promote your books, it's free, you just need a Twitter account.

To join in add #creativebizhour to your book tweets on Monday evenings 8-9pm (GMT). Tip: tweets with pictures or book covers get more RT's. Then RT other people who are using the hashtag, to help others on your timeline see their work. Give creativity a boost!

My Twitter account name is @Lizzie_Chantree
Stop by and take a look. I would love to see you there.

James Field | 3 comments Sounds wonderful, but I haven't the faintest clue how to use Twitter. I do have an account, but everything looks like gibberish to me. (I'm 63)
I've written three science fiction novels and six short stories. The books are great. Sales are terrible.

Lizzie Chantree (goodreadscomlizzie_chantree) | 6 comments Hi James

Twitter is a great place to promote your books. You just need a computer or a phone that can have the Twitter app.

It may seem a bit daunting at first to set up a Twitter account, but it is worth the time invested.

Google 'Twitter' and it will tell you how to set your account up. If you do decide to give it a try, make sure you include a photo of yourself as readers like to see who they are talking to.

If not, Indie Tribe and Book Viral are great places for authors to promote. There are also lots of free book listing sites on the web, Twitter and Facebook.

Hope this helps!

From Lizzie.
