ABANDONED. Middle Grade, Lemony Snicket kind of book, Characters riding horses inside a manor

I need your help. I am trying to find a book that I first heard of many years ago (It was probably around 2004). I don't remember the author or the title. All I know is a) It is middle grade
b) It is like something that Lemony Snicket could have written
c) The main plot has to do with some characters who live in a manor and go everywhere (inside their house) riding horses
That's all I can remember. Oh and it is a series. I have no idea of how many books though. Could someone please help me? Any ideas?

Thank you very much but this is not the books I am looking for :/ I don't think that they were published so many years ago. I believe they were published after 2000. But I am not quite sure about that.
