Festive Read-A-Thon 2018!

My main aim for this readathon is to finish the Fellowship of the Ring. Ironically this was a book I started in January and put on my goals list for the year to finish. I never thought for a second I wouldn't finish it - and I'm going to stick to my promise! Better late than never, right?! I have 4 chapters left, so I can definitely do it!
I'd also like to read a good chunk of The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton. This is a book I'm reading for study, so I'm not going to rush it, and as a result I might not finish it. Maybe getting past halfway will be my aim.
I'd also like to read Be Your Own #Goals by Kristen Martin - I think this'll really help me set goals for 2019, so I'd like to finish it before the end of the year. It's not very long so I think I'll be able to do it.
And finally I'm going to try and finish Stake Out by Sienna Mercer. Part of my favourite book series, I'm just reading this for the nostalgia and happy feels! I've also been in a bit of a reading slump recently, so I think this fun, easy-to-read book will be my crutch through this read-a-thon; just in case I don't feel motivated to read anything else, I can pick this one up.
So here's my TBR shelf for this holiday period:
My goals are very loose but I think this read-a-thon will give me the motivation to make reading a priority and dive into these books. Let's do this!!

I need to read 7 books in order to hit my yearly goal of 50 books. These are the books I wish to finish for the year:

I have less than 100 pages left (currently on page 178) of The Way Past Winter so this is the one I want to finish. I only just started Jane Eyre (on page 14) so I don't plan to finish this one, just read as much as I can. Finally I've been listening to Forgotten Voices of the Great War. I have 5hr 18m remaining and I'd love to make some good progress by the end of the year.
There are a couple of other books I may start but we'll see. I never usually read much this time of year what with all the family gatherings, cooking etc so it's the perfect time for a read-a-thon and some extra motivation.
TBR:

Today December 23 I finished the book
.
I'm like you Sophie, I don't think hit my Goodreads reading challenge this year, and I don't want to stress myself out attempting to make it on such a short time span.

Merry Christmas!!
I just finished reading
. It was amazing!
I don't think I can finish another book for the year however, so while I had originally set my yearly goal for 50 books, I have lowered it and ended at 45 books. Not bad. I think next year here I'll do a smaller, more manageable goal like 30 books.

Wow, thanks for the comments you guys! Merry belated Christmas! I haven't read much so far because I didn't want to stop being present in the festivities to read a book. Was kind of questioning whether this readathon was a good idea because to be honest the idea of reading is sort of stressing me out! Hopefully that will change soon though and I'll get a bit of reading done. :)

Also listened to 1hr 20 mins of my audiobook (all one evening while playing Minecraft, definitely could have read more during the week if I'd actually remembered) and read.. wait for it.. an amazing 9 pages of Jane Eyre. :D

I want this read-a-thon to be very chill and personal to each participant, so we're actually not going to have any group challenges. If you want to make a tbr or any kind of goals for yourself, please feel free to do that; but equally if you just want to join in and read whatever you fancy, feel free to do that too.
This read-a-thon will run for a little over a week - from Sunday 23rd December to Monday 31st December - right up until the last second of the year! If you want to join in on the community motivation and love for books, everyone's welcome! It'd be awesome to see everyone's plans and updates below in this discussion.
Have fun you guys, and happy holidays! :D
