Will Once - somewhere and back again
But I do care deeply about it.This situation hurts my soul.
But, I'm sure it'll all turn out fine in the long run.
Yes, which brings me back to an unknown stepping in and shaking things up.The real pisser is that you have no hope if you've not got a shitload of money behind you.
Will wrote: "Well yes but he is Tony Benn's son - half aristo, half socialist"I was always a great admirer of Sir Anthony Wedgewood Benn - aka Tony Benn. I can't say I know much of Hilary - but if he's got his Dad's principles - he can't be too bad.
I don't think that coup plotting is Hilary Benn's natural style. But these are difficult times. He and his other shadow cabinet colleagues believe that Labour needs a leader who will appeal to a broader range of voters than Jeremy does. And I think he is right.
Hmm.The coup plotting was months ago. And why didn't he make his move before Corbyn got in?
It's frightening that I know so little about the politics in so many countries.
Being an expat is very cool.
Corbyn should never have got in. I didn't vote for him. If they'd gone for the right brother between Dave and Ed (Milliband) - this problem probably wouldn't have arisen in the first place as I think David would still have been the leader. Chicken run Ed was too easy to take the mick out of.
This is the best article I've seen which explains where we are right now:https://www.theguardian.com/commentis...
Forgive me but I'm going to save reading it until tomorrow.Tell me a joke, Will.
Patti needs a funny.
My beloved wife and I were in the polling station on Thursday. Being the neat and precise person she is, she had arranged her tools and equipment neatly on her end of the desk. She declared that she would happily use the pencils provided by the council, but that she would "draw the line" at using their ruler. And that gave us the giggles which totally baffled the next voter.
I was going to make a joke about England leaving the Euros as another Brexit, but I couldn't make it work. Eexit? Engone? Royxit?

Maybe I should stay out of your private pain.
Not to vote, but to manage the votes. My wife and I were the polling staff - I was the presiding office and she was my poll clerk. When a voter comes to a polling station, the first thing you have to do is to check that they are on the electoral roll, then you put a mark against their name to show that they have voted. That's what the ruler is for, so that you can read across the entire electoral roll (it's a bit unwieldy) and so you don't accidentally put the mark against the wrong voter.

Thank you! I was wondering if I'd ever hear. Makes perfect sense.

Not blogged for a couple of months. Been very busy!Today's we're talking about fossil words. Words that ought to be extinct, but somehow keep soldiering on.

More about language. Just what is it with the word "like"??Is it a kid's code that adults aren't supposed to understand?

I used to be able to tell when my (homeschooled) kids had been around other kids too much: their speech became peppered with 'like,' 'you know,' and 'I mean.' Sometimes all within the same sentence.

Very interesting Will, but "Ruthless" in my world, means the absence of one of my sisters...... her name is Ruth!

Your wordpress blog won't let me comment. Good post.
Flo - I had an Aunt Ruth too. A lovely name. I like to think that once upon a time people would see that name and also know its original meaning of compassionate and caring.Alicia - sorry that the blog is being uncooperative. Other people have been able to comment. I'll have a furtle with the IT and see what I can sort out.

Can't see it happening. The old boys club in this country is too ingrained.
In my humble opinion and I probably have no right to have one.
