Melissa | 44 comments I have It Can’t Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis on my shelf. I know it is a political satire, but would it also fit for this category?

message 152: by Julia (new)

Julia | 165 comments Yes, Melissa. I read It Can't Happen Here as a novel about a journalist, #5, which it is, but it is also alternate history. So you could double dip. I'm glad I read it, though calling it 'satire,' might have you thinking it's funny. I did not find it that.

Thanks. This is really helpful.

Stephanie (jalapenocheese) | 1 comments Does Kate Atkinson's "Life After Life" work for this?

Britany it was so good Lynn!

Kristin (_kne) | 3 comments I read Annelies by David R. Gillham, the story of Anne Frank if she survived the Holocaust. It was beautiful, not cliché at all.

Azuki | 14 comments I read The Years of Rice and Salt. It's a thick book but very interesting.

message 160: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Milewski | 4 comments Would The Testaments work for this task? I assume it counts but haven't seen it mentioned here.

message 161: by Julie (new)

Julie | 5 comments Hi - do you think that Lincoln in the Bardo counts as alternate history?

I would say yes, absolutely.

I loved that book, and I can't say I could identify its genre. It is one strange book. But yeah, I guess it could be considered that.

Yes, I would count it and I loved that book. It defies description.

message 165: by Megan (new)

Megan | 130 comments I read The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick for this prompt, which was the last one I needed to complete for the 2019 challenge! 😃

message 166: by Jen (new)

Jen Shapiro (minkerpinker) | 7 comments Would Kindred by Octavia Butler qualify?

message 167: by Julia (new)

Julia | 165 comments No, Jen. Kindred wouldn't work as alternate history. It's a fabulous book and everyone should read it, but not for this prompt.

Dread Nation by Justina Ireland
River of Teeth, American Hippo, Taste of Marrow all by Sarah Gailey work and are short.
