Fishface | 12711 comments Once arrested, Westley Allan Dodd was very forthcoming about his crimes. Why did he tell the investigators he started killing?

A) I lost my borrowing privileges at the library
B) The kiddy-porn thing just wasn't doing it for me anymore
C) I didn't have a television
D) I saw my boss's face on the little boys and felt I had to kill them
E) I did it to them because my dad did the same things to me
F) I had this long criminal record already and didn't want my new victims to identify me to the cops

Lucille (lucillet) Well I don’t know who this is, but if he’s a kiddie rapist/killer then I’m going to say F, because I have actually seen this reason floated before as an explanation as to why some pedoes start killing their victims. Esp in states that have those 3 strike laws. I sort of recall Polly Klaass’ killer giving the 3 strike rationale for killing her. Of course this could also be a smokescreen reason to mask an escalating level of depravity. AS IF it’s slightly less disgusting to say “I killed this 3 y/o child after raping her because of the 3 strike law, cause otherwise I wouldn’t have, so it’s YOUR fault” versus admittting “I need that extra special murderous cherry on top of my rape-cake cause I’m a monster, oooopsie.”

Actually, I do think this argument to repeal 3 strike laws has been made: that it can escalate *just* a rape, to a rape/murder. Maybe make the penalties much more severe for first strikes. How ‘bout dat?

Fishface | 12711 comments F is a good guess indeed, but only if you're talking about Bill Bonin! BZZZT! Keep trying peeps!

message 6: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillet) Okay, final answer: Based on my many years of experience working in a middle school, high school, and public library:
A! It is a well know phenomenon that losing library privileges can make some individuals homicidal, and has been included in the latest edition of the DSM, listed as ‘bibliocidal.’

message 7: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillet) Is that a PEEPS? I knew a woman who was addicted to those. Seriously!

message 8: by Fishface (last edited Dec 16, 2018 01:00PM) (new)

Fishface | 12711 comments That is indeed a marshmallow peep. And, alas, A is another BZZT! We're running low on answers here!

Stacey | 123 comments Lucille- I love how you talked out your answer, I was a little sad to see you BZZZT.

I'll guess B

Seeing that peep made my stomach a little queezy.

Rita (crimesleuthjunkie) | 1100 comments Dang, Lucille beat me to it! I was going to say B

message 11: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 12711 comments B is for BZZZT!

message 12: by Koren (new)

Koren (koren56) | 1381 comments by power of elimination only, my guess is D.

message 13: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillet) IDK, when our cable goes out, we get pretty jumpy

Fishface | 12711 comments C is DING DING DING correct-a-mundo! The full quote, from the policeman's lips to Gary C. King's ear, was "I was bored. I didn't have a television."

Jeez! That may have been what he SAID, but I am pretty sure that he did it merely because he was a sexual deviant who enjoyed abusing and killing little boys. Thank God he was hanged (at his own request).

message 17: by Fishface (last edited Dec 20, 2018 07:09PM) (new)

Fishface | 12711 comments But isn't that basically an admission by Westley of what you just said? "Since I couldn't watch my favorite sitcoms, hey, murder it is." He never said he wasn't a deviate. Everybody and his hamster had known that for years. It baffles me why, after the third or fourth rape conviction, they don't just throw away the key.

Hari Brandl (crochetbuddies) | 576 comments Watch out Folks, I don't have a TV. And I have been known to get bored.

message 19: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 12711 comments Or the first, as Lucille said.

message 20: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 12711 comments I don't have a TV either. I'm hard to bore, though, if there is TC there to read.
