Hannah Smith | 35 comments I am trying to read only books that I already own or library books. I want to read at least one non fiction book a month. I also want to branch out into new genres and authors.

That is my goal - to read all new books unless the prompt indicates otherwise. I'll reread one for the nostalgia prompt.

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I'm debating on adding to the challenge by doing all of the options on prompts #10 (pop, sugar, challenge), #22 (salty, sweet, bitter, spicy), #32 (author from Asia, Africa, South America) and #40 (past challenges) This would add 10 books.

I've usually done all years on the past challenges just because it is easy to fit in books that don't go anywhere else, but the others would take planning. Anyone else doing this?

Rose W | 119 comments I am doing all past years for challenges and a book from Asia, Africa and South America. I am also reading a book set in each of the seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter). Like your idea on the other prompts but I don’t think I will add them as I am having a hard enough time finding just one to fit those!

message 55: by Danii (new)

Danii Allen (whisperedwishes) I'm filling every challenge with an LGBTQ+ book. It started as an accident (I read a lot of queer fiction anyway). I just happened to fill my first few prompts with queer books, and then I never stopped. I'm on book 24 and they've all been challenge fills and all been LGBTQ+. I'm actually pretty proud that I've managed it so far (and I have books for most of the remaining challenges planned out already too). :D

I love this idea! I'm already tacking on the Modern Mrs. Darcy challenge to my list, for the reasons you state, just to get more options to slot my books.

I also have been doing at least one book for every past PopSugar challenge (for the same reason).

I have a personal goal of 100 books this year, so this will give me more challenges to fill. I always end up with multiple books in my favorite categories, and some that I'm lucky to fill by the end of the year.

And, I might still try to find books with Green in the title, since I failed in that little sub-challenge I tried last year.

Erica | 1256 comments Well I'm using last year's challenge and this year's challenge to help my overall goodreads challenge. I've created a neurotic spread sheet so I can see every prompt the books I read fit into.

Khristina (readingreckless) | 19 comments My challenge within a challenge is that I’m only using books that can be obtain from my library or that I already own. A giveaway win gave me a book to read for the prompt - a book that’s published in 2019. #freechallenge

Stephanie Scott | 2 comments Hi everyone! My two older kids (7 and 11) are huge readers like me and while we're all home this summer with the little one at preschool, we decided that we wanted to find some best-of lists to challenge ourselves. So best childrens books, best YA, and best modern fiction for me. I can find a million lists to choose from, but none of them are printable!! Does anyone have any suggestions for lists that I could actually print out and put on the fridge for us to check off?

To be slightly more specific, I am personally interested in reading the Modern Library's top 100 novels, but would also like a second list that would include somewhat fewer white dudes.

Thanks so much for any help you can give.

Kendall (reads more&) Moore (montigneyrules) | 1 comments I'm doing this, as well as the A to Z title challenge. Books with titles A to Z. It helps me sneak in books I want to read.

This go around for book club were doing books youve had lying around for awhile, to get our tbr list down, so ive been picking all my goodreads list on the same idea

Hey there, my challenge within the challenge is that at least 80% of my reads should be by female authors.. I decided about this after starting the challenge and already had read few male authors so couldn't go for the full 100%.
So far I'm on track to be closer to 85-90%!

MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) I am working on several "challenge within challenges"

One goal is to read 1001 Books to Read Before You Die.
My goal is to read 250 books from the list eventually.
All that I read will be noted with a star.

I am also going to read some YA/children's books from the
classics: ie Heidi, Bridge to Terabithia, The Giver, Hatchet
etc.

Reading from my TBR. I have hundreds of physical books
and thousands of ebooks (4000+). I bought an Amazon
Paperwhite yesterday with 32 gb. My current tablet only
has 8 and a lot is taken up with other programs. I have
already bought several books of both kind to fulfill prompts
in stuff I don't normally read.

In addition, I am doing the Around the Year in 52 Books
group and Reading Women Challenge. I rarely read male
authors, so I am trying to do some if they are the right ones.

message 63: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 7 comments I'm trying to combine this challenge with the "Around the Year in 52 Books" group challenge and also the "Reading Women Challenge" to make sure I read plenty of woman authors (though I usually hover around 50-60% on that anyway). May end up adding in the Book Riot challenge once they post it, but not sure yet!
Really just trying to stretch myself in 2020 as I feel like I was happy with the volume I have read in 2019 but less happy with the variety.

message 64: by nitisha (new)

nitisha | 11 comments I am going to try doing the challenge in order of the prompts and will also be combining it with Around the Year challenge.
I also want to make sure that each book I read is set in a different country but I think that is going to be hardeer because there are so many books on my TBR that I can see fitting this year's prompts!

message 65: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 5 comments I'm planning on combining this challenge with the "Reading Women Challenge". I'll try to place any of my book prompts for this challenge with Reading Women as I go.

message 66: by Sue (new)

Sue Butler I'm going to try to complete this challenge without spending any money apart from my Kindle Unlimited subscription. If I do buy anything it will come from a charity shop. Some local ones are selling 4 or 5 books for £1. Such a big temptation but that's only if I can't beg, borrow or loan a book.

It helps I am a librarian in a secondary school and I have already earmarked a few books that would work perfectly for a few challenges.
I promise not to growl at the students if they try to borrow them before I've read them :)

message 67: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 49 comments I am going to *try* to do the prompts in order. I already have my first one picked out to get at the library today (For obvious reasons, for now I skipped the first one on the list "A book published in 2020"- I'll do that one second or third!) Like many others, I'm going to try and use books I already own for as many of the challenges as possible.

message 68: by Glenda (new)

Glenda (glenda-r) This is my first year doing this challenge. I have tons of Kindle books I've downloaded and also plenty of hardback books. I too am going to try to stick to books that I already own.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

My goal is to tackle books on my TBR. Then I will go to the library or book store and pick out books accordingly.

message 70: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments I've just realised I've only read one non-fiction book this year so I'm thinking of challenging myself to read at least one a month next year. I'm not sure if I'll stick to it. I'll need you guys to keep me on track!
