Idit | 1028 comments Unless I'm senile, I don't think I've added my stats for My Year in Books - since I've been mostly away and without a computer.

so a bit late:
My Year of Books - 2018
It was a really good year in my standards. Both in substance and in quantities.

I've read 63 books and altogether 17,647 pages
My shortest book was The Moomins and the Great Flood, and the longest was Bleak House

My average length was on the short side - 280 pages for a book

My most popular read (1,834,196 people): Of Mice and Men
My least popular read (21 people, but more should, alas it was not translated to english yet): רווקים ואלמנות (means something like Bachelors and Widows)

My average rating is a round 4 stars. But I tried very hard to cover up gaps in my reading, so did a lot of classics and other great reads

My highest rated on goodread was If This Is a Man / The Truce which indeed was excellent!

It's much more tragic/comic Kate when you listen to the star system in TripAdvisor - here at least you can chuck the book to the side... with TripAdvisor you can find yourself in a dilapidated and hostile hotel in Jordan ...shudder from memory

Or the only guests in a dilapidated chain hotel in the middle of rural nowhere Missouri, and they put you in the room the farthest from lobby that requires crossing a boarded up unlit pool area to access. Both the music from Deliverance and Psycho played in our heads.

And just to update my Year in Books figures as of December 31, even though several more books were added after my initial post, and things like shortest book and least reviewed shifted, that highest reviewed stat did not budge from that book! 🤣

I'm going to update mine, as I originally posted on Dec. 10.

I read 56,833 pages across 173 books (328.5 average).

Hmmm, looks like I read two that both fit my "shortest book" and GR picked a different one this time:

SHORTEST BOOK 32 pages (Follow Follow by Marilyn Singer)

Everything else stayed the same for me, including my average rating at 3.4 stars.
