Finished book 1! Totally forgot to keep track of the chapters so I'll just note what I'm commenting on.

Han's helplessness: (view spoiler)[ Poor Han, you can feel how helpless he feels, with so many things going wrong. How hard he's trying for his sister to be a good guy but how difficult it it is. I felt terrible for him, when everything kept going from bad to worse. (hide spoiler)]

Raisa: (view spoiler)[ She's so spoiled! And horny!! Hahaha! She seems to want to make out with any handsome guy. I know she's trying to do the right thing but I don't like the way she acts with Amon. (hide spoiler)]

Shiv: (view spoiler)[ I teared up when he professed his fealty to Han. What a terrible end. (hide spoiler)]

Han & Bird: (view spoiler)[ Where they sleeping together? The way that scene went fade to black and the fact that they were sneaking into Lucius's house made me think they were (you don't need that much privacy just to make out!) (hide spoiler)]

@Celia - On teenage relationships: Totally agree with you! (view spoiler)[ I like how everybody's exploring relationships and like you, not sure I'd like for Raisa and Han to end up together. I can see them attracted to each other but they don't seem like the kind of people who should end up together. Han is just too magnetic to be somebody's consort. (hide spoiler)]

I don't know that I can start it right away. :( I have an interview for a promotion on Monday and I have be super-sharp. (When i picked up the first book in the series, I read it non stop for like a day!)

Ch 7 - (view spoiler)[ I love it so far. I can't wait to see how Han is going to grow up as his personality is very young right now. He's trying his hardest to feed his family but it's not easy.

Raisa's pov is interesting. Her mother is so useless as a Queen and everyone around her uses that to their own benefit. I really hope Raisa will see Micah for what he is. I love that she's been raised in
the Clans and seeing Amon being all flustered was so cute. (hide spoiler)]

I started but I'm almost done with it! Enjoying it as much as the first time, although I changed my mind on the love interest from Raisa! (From my first read.)

Hi! The thread has been a bit forgotten unfortunately :( I was busy with other brs and didn't manage to get pass book 1. I'm still planning on re-reading the series I just don't know when

Same here. My job allows me to read a lot of mindless ebooks but not thick and engaging hardcovers. I honestly don't see myself getting back to this until next month at least. Do we want to reset for late May/early June?

25% (view spoiler)[That was a great beginning. Usually the multiple POV characters chasing after each other isn't written well, but I loved the back and forth this time. Han and Raisa are too linked, and were from the start. I love that their life paths connect so much without them even knowing.

And now, of course, for the big reveal. I'm anxiously waiting to see how this goes. Gotta put this down though, otherwise I'll be reading all night. (hide spoiler)]

50% (view spoiler)[Okay, I definitely did not see it coming that Marianna would be dead.

I like the direction this is going, especially with Han's contributions and his realizations about Raisa, Dancer, and Cat. He isn't writing Raisa off completely as a romantic possibility, which is a strong choice. I am going to admit I had this spoiled to me a little bit, so I'm pretty sure they end up together, but it's interesting to see how the tension will build.

Then with Dancer and Cat, he's realizing that these are the people who've stood by him throughout his life. I'm really glad we're seeing more of them in his life as well. They make a strong team, although Dancer and Kat ending up together was a kind of Ron and Hermione no-brainer. (hide spoiler)]
