The premise of the book is of a society that had a war between good and evil, good won and has embraced good to the point it has become corrupt/oppressive. The bad guys in the book turn out to be the protagonists. One of the characters is an assassin of sorts who through either a curse or some kind of enchantment can't refuse any offered contract. Fantasy middle ages setting.
