I have no real goals or expectations for leisure reading this year. My focus will be on completing my Bachelors of Middle-Grade Mathematics Education.
So, reading 12 non-school or work-related stories will be a bonus.

**********The (I Didn't See This Coming) RESULTS**********

Nyssa marries Lois Lane!

Nyssa and her wife Lois Lane, along with their Five Children and pet Tiger are moving to Louisiana!
Being a Wedding Planner to the rich and famous just wasn't fun anymore, so Nyssa has moved her family into the boonies and is now planning weddings for the Swamp people. Good thing she invested in that flying coffin, its a bit hard to get into that rural swampland. Thanks to Lois's reporting skills Nyssa is sure to be the Redneck Wedding planner of the year!

I think you have a great goal, education is always a good thing to focus on :)
And I like that you set your casual reading goal to a reachable level to not stress yourself !

Nyssa | 1229 comments Thanks, DP! :D

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 420 comments yay! I know when I was in college and working full time, sneaking in a book a month was DIFFICULT. But, the break works for most.

It's much more difficult than I would have imagined!

I swear, if I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten my shit together the first time I went to college, instead of being an indecisive twit! Granted, I was working full-time then too.

I feel like I've lived my life "bass-ackwards"!

There's a consensus so far... LOL

message 11: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments I forgot to add a "personal checkbox" so that I could watch the poll results without influence, so I thought no one was answering it. lol

message 12: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1190 comments I havent read any of them so i voted for the one that sounded the most interesting :)

message 13: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments Thank you! :D

message 14: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1190 comments 2 of them were on my to-read-owned shelf LOL

message 15: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments :)

I realized this morning, that I had forgotten to add two other “started but not finished” series to the list.

I was tempted to edit the poll, but didn’t want to mess it up.

message 16: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments I went with Innkeeper cause most of them are shortish and quickish.

Of course, I've recently entered my 95,893th reading of Murderbot, so...

message 17: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments LOL!

I loved Clean Sweep! Not sure why I haven’t gotten around to the other two books as yet.

If Innkeeper wins, I’ll have to find a second short series for when I’m done.

Codex Alera only has 6 books, but they’re 700 pages each, so I’d need the whole year to complete them on time.

Nyssa | 1229 comments Christa wrote: "

There is now a three-way tie! O.o

message 19: by Christa, The Returned (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1150 comments LOL! So we started with a 3-person consensus and now we have a 3-way tie. Hopefully someone will come break up the tie soon. :D

message 20: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments Christa wrote: "LOL! So we started with a 3-person consensus, and now we have a 3-way tie. Hopefully, someone will come break up the tie soon. :D"

Nope. They created a 4-way tie instead. LOL

message 21: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes | 2619 comments And one pulls out front.

I can't even vote and I can't stop watching.

message 22: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments If you join the group you can! Hint hint hint. ;)

Participation is optional. The only concern are random requests from other members to please vote on their polls ( but they don’t hunt you down if you choose not to).

Nyssa | 1229 comments HomeInMyShoes wrote: "And one pulls out front.

There was a bit of jockeying, but now there is yet another tie!

message 24: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1190 comments The drama! xD

message 25: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes | 2619 comments Obviously you are just supposed to read everything.

message 26: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments Lol. If I could do that, I wouldn’t have needed help picking a focus!! *Overly Dramatic Sigh*

message 27: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments lol!

message 28: by Christa, The Returned (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1150 comments LOL! Well, if it ends in a 2-way tie, you can flip a coin? :D

message 29: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1190 comments Or do another poll with just the 2 top contenders to choose between? :P

message 30: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments Would you all vote again if I did that?

message 31: by Christa, The Returned (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1150 comments I would totally vote again! :)

message 32: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Resident Book Pusher (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments me, too!

Nyssa | 1229 comments DoodlePanda wrote: "I would vote again :)"

Yay! Thank you!

I got all excited because I saw there was another vote.... it was for a non-tied book. LOL

I'm still hoping someone will come along and break the tie, but I'm happy no one will mind participating in a run-off vote. :)

message 37: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments The "Tie-Breaker" poll is - here. I sent out an invite as well.

Thank you so much :)

message 38: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes | 2619 comments Barring a barrage of Butcher votes this appears to be a landslide.

message 39: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments HomeInMyShoes wrote: "Barring a barrage of Butcher votes this appears to be a landslide."

I agree! And, I think I have the entire series, so I'll be ready to go.

message 40: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments With a tally of 9 to 4, it looks like I will indeed be spending my leisure reading time in Bon Temps, Louisiana. :)

message 41: by Christa, The Returned (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1150 comments Yay! A successful run-off! :)

message 42: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments Yes! I want to thank everyone again who participated in the polls, I really appreciate it.

I may cheat a little, and reread the first book over Christmas break, then one book a month after that. But I have not decided yet because I also want to continue the Lumberjane comics that I started.

*Shrug* i’ll just have to see how things go.

The last few weeks of the year are like the period right before a game server wipe. You just want to get it over with so you can get started again. :D

I'm planning on updating my thread at the end of the month.

message 49: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments I added my Mash Gameboard to Message #1.

message 50: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1229 comments I started the year off pretty well, reading-wise. January has often been a good month for me when I'm motivated. The trick will be keeping it up for the rest of the year.

I'm experimenting with making one post at the end of the month versus updating after every book. I think this might be easier when reading a series back to back but might take longer with nonrelated reads.
