Melanie Lee At the beginning of "The Kite Runner" we can all see that Amir has trouble communicating with his father, Baba. We all know that Baba wants a son who can meet his standards & stand up for himself. He even gets frustrated just talking about Amir.

- My question is "How would you feel if you were in Amir's shoes?"

BeeCee Frustrated, hurt, jealous, fearful.

Paula The difficult scene in this book stands out so strongly but I love the book and did love the movie. Some reads are so outstanding and this is one of those.

Madambutterfly The best book that I have read ever.

Priscilla Zmolek Some of the things are really hard to read. But good book

That is great. I hear you.
A book of the decade for me was Snow Falling on Cedars. Decade maybe 2000 to 2010.

Thanks, I will try to read.

Priscilla Zmolek The reason I gave it one star because the book was not for me. And I didn't really like it. But it's well written and it's good book.

Dee but how can you say something is good, if you didn't really like it - those two statements are at odds with each other...

you could say its well written, but it didn't work for me; but not its a good book but not for me...its confusing

Priscilla Zmolek Well because its is a good book and well written and like you said it's not for me. But just because its not for me does not mean it's a good book,

Tanika I enjoyed the book except for really disliking Amir. I can understand self-preservation instincts, but not cowardice. Seeing how Hassan's loyalty is repaid made me realise that you can feel bad for Amir's lacking relationship with his father, but some character flaws can't be blamed on a disappointed father.

Priscilla Zmolek I am sorry my phone writes what it wants too.
I mean just because its not for me does not mean it's not a good book ;)

Gilma Chute The book is good, but my stomach hurt. I did not like Amir's principles. I listen to the book and the person that read the books has Afghan accent and I dislike him because for me he was Amir. I was not able to watch the movie neither.

This was such a touching story. Sometimes hard to read, but the book makes you feel the desire to do something to help and to act in anyway against the actual situation in Middle Eastern countries. I think this was the purpose of the author and I really would recomend it.

John If I was Amir I would had handle things differently. I would've made Hassan feel like he was welcomed by me. On too many occasions it was clearly stated that Amir didn't want Hassan around. In chapter 9 Amir asked his Baba could they get new servants? Even before then Amir was giving Hassan the cold shoulder but Hassan still remained loyal to Amir even after his harsh treatment of him. With the rape incident I would've told Baba about it. By the time the rape happened Baba and Amir were on good terms the best they've been in a while. If Hassan truly cared about Amir he would've told Baba the next day or when he woke up. If it ate at Amir so much he should've told Baba. Overall I feel like Amir could have and should have handle a lot things differently. I know if I was him I would've made those changes I previous stated.
