When Zahra and Sean attend the awards event, they are chased by Amir and Sean almost loses the battle. Were you surprised that Amir got the upper hand?

Laura Yes I very surprised. I'm guessing it was because he didn't know the area very well and he got caught before he got to the highway.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I was surprised too. I thought he was just trying to get Zahra to safety and not take down Amir. But I do agree with Laura, maybe he just didn't know the area well. Still I was disappointed that Amir got the upper hand and got away.

I was also surprised. Sean shouldn’t have lost the upper hand. As soon as the car disappeared, he should have anticipated what came next. He was better than Amir in terms of driving but Amir was a cab driver and probably knew every route. At a minimum, would have scoped the area out. But driving? Sean should have won that battle.

Laura I may have my books mixed up but didn’t they make out a little before they got in the car? HE was distracted by that.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I think they were making out, too. It's hard because we readers know they are in danger, but they don't. They didn't have a clue.

They were making out outside of the car. They’d driven about a mile before he spotted Amir.

Lol- I was too, I was like come on Sean you are there there to protect not make out. I'm still shaking my head that
Amir got the upper hand with the car but got himself shot in the dark by a girl who has never shot a gun.
