SOLVED. Fantasy book about dragons written by a famous fantasy artist. [s]

I'm looking to see if there is another book by a certain author, however, I can' remember the author or the name of the book. The author is a famous fantasy artist. He finally wrote a fantasy book. A father and his two children, one boy, one girl raise dragons. I believe the father may have been killed and the dragons are taken for war purposes. The girl escapes with a couple of the dragons. That the best I can remember. It was a great book and I hope that he will write a sequel. Your help is greatly appreciated.
