My writing "career" began rather late in life. I retired about four years ago and suddenly had the spare time we all cherish. I am a lifelong bibliophile, so it was not too surprising that I decided to write. So far I have written two children's books that have been favorably received. Favorably received but not purchased.
As a new author, I find my self grouped with thousands of other strugglers. What to do?
Could crowdsourcing be an answer? Normally, small monetary donations are sought from numerous individuals. Instead of money could the desired currency be constructive criticism.
Last year I wrote a short story titled "Tuatha de Danaan". It is a fantasy set in 19th century Ireland and involves a fateful night in which a young lad encounters the Otherword. It is written for young adults and older. I consider the story to be a work-in-progress.
Would the dedicated, intelligent, and good-looking members of Goodreads be interested in helping make the story as good as it can be? All constructive comments would be carefully evaluated and included if appropriate.
Eventually, I would like to have the story be worthy of a minimum 4 star rating here. If that goal is accomplished, I would expand the story into a full length novel.
All reviewers who had story comments incorporated would receive a free ebook version of the finished work. Also, if they chose, their name would credited within.

Would you consider becoming part of this unusual crowdsourcing concept. Would you help create one of the best fantasy books written? Here is a link to the story in the creative writing area.
Thank you sincerely,
Bob Brooks
P.S. I also am spending some of my spare time in becoming a better cook. Now it's time to plan tonight's dinner. No crowdsourcing required.
