message 2: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn (evie95) | 6 comments I know I agree with you. I couldn't stop crying. For Terry to do that to Richard and Kahlan was freaking cruel. And that ending. Who ends a book like that? Even after 2 days I still can't get the book out of my head.

Kendra | 1 comments I agree, i can't stop thinking about it. I just keep hoping that he is going to make an announcement..just kidding guys I am coming out with another book, thats not the last one..

message 4: by Maci (new)

Maci (macij) | 23 comments I feel like he will give us some closure... there were too many unanswered questions. Like do they end this new war... but I was up for an hour after finishing this book just brooding!

message 5: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn (evie95) | 6 comments What I don't get is why one of the mord sith didn't give richard the breath of life to see if that would work or not and its just messed up how he ended up making Richard go to the darks parts of the underworld without ever getting to be with Kahlan's spirit. So yeah I agree with both of you it can't end like that. I mean come on everthing they have been through only to have Richard without Kahlan for the rest of eternity.

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments I am wondering where Cara went!

message 7: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn (evie95) | 6 comments Yeah me to. I miss her she's bad ass. I hope Cara comes back. Its weird not having her next to Richard and Kahlan. and it makes me wonder if Cara was there with them at the end would Kahlan have ever gotten stabbed?

message 8: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments no way! Cara would have began ripping throats apart! I love her! Remember her stand against Drefen in book four? As she was having her guts ripped out, she not only refused him the info he wanted, she called him a bastard. No. Kahlan would have just fine. Cara is my girl! Hope she finds snappishness again one day. Poor Cara.

message 9: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn (evie95) | 6 comments Yeah I do remember. She's my favorite mord sith. And when her husband Ben died. I wanted to go on a rampage. I knew she was never going to be the same again.

message 10: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments Pretty much every Mord Sith death was a really sad one. Even Denna, and she was a villain in the beginning. A sign of great writing. Somebody should come up with the saddest deaths ever in the series. Rania and Warren would be in the top five for me. How bout you?

message 11: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn (evie95) | 6 comments All the ones that you just said. I thought that Zedd could of had a better death though. When he ended up getting killed I thought he was going to pop out of somewhere and say boo. Cara's husband Ben is the death that actually made me cry. But the one that still has me in a daze and made me cry like a baby was Richard's death. I have never felt so empty after reading a about someones death until Richard.

message 12: by Herbert (new)

Herbert (novelnemisus) | 75 comments That's it. I calling Terry George R.R Martins twin from now on.

message 13: by Willow (new)

Willow Bledsoe | 3 comments I'm reviving this thread!!

I was not a fan of this book. I've been reading SoT since I was 13, and they've always been my favorite. But, this book was just....uggh. I thought the series was over, I was content with it being over and having the Law of Nines to hint at what happened after Confessor. Everything that came out after I felt was forced and I really hope it's finally over. In the Law of Nines, Jax says the house of Rahl died out a long time ago....I think that should be it. Richard died, it was sad, Kahlan needs to take charge now, and I'm not particularly interested to read how she would do it, HOWEVER...

I don't think it's over. And I'm too digusted over Zedd's predictable and emotionless death. The scene made me cry, because I loved Zedd, but it wasn't written in a way that I felt anyone else's emotions or anything. Just disappointment.

Harry | 5 comments I love this book, I feel like there is a lot to be still done! I believe Richard will come back from the dead and take care of business!!! Have faith! This is the best series out there

message 15: by Joel (new)

Joel | 15 comments Richards's body was preserved by occult magic in the end for some reason... Terry Goodkind is getting old and probably doesn't want someone to take over his writing as what happened in " The Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson.
If he is healthy enough to write more the legacy will go on but if the author dies so does the story..

message 16: by James (new)

James Rada Jr. (jimrada) | 1 comments I just finished the book and I'm still in shock. I know there's another book coming, but I just can't see everyone coming back from this "scorched earth" storyline. It does make me look forward to the next one, though.

message 17: by Joel (new)

Joel | 15 comments Well James if Saluchan was preserved at death to be risen 3000 years later, the question is what about Richard? His body is preserved by occult magic for a reason and the story line between Hannis Arc and Saluchan has yet to be seen.

message 18: by Maci (new)

Maci (macij) | 23 comments To Joel: I think Brandon Sanderson did a fantastic job with the end of WoT.

I really don't think Richard is dead. It just seems to.... I don't know off? Because hasn't part of the whole part of the story line was that if Richard dies, they are all screwed??? I just don't see TG ending the series like that (Warheart has been confirmed as the final book in the series)

I 100% agreed! I was so shocked!!! It was just like bam, he's dead.

message 20: by Hollieann (new)

Hollieann | 7 comments I agree with the above. Been reading this series for years and I've fallen out of love with it since The Omen Machine.

It's like he's built this amazing world and then just can't do any better than what he's done already.

Zeddicus deserved a better death than that too.

message 21: by Donna (new)

Donna Biglin | 5 comments I have just finished the whole series (again) in anticipation of "Warheart" coming out. Personally, I think that there was a reason that Zedd and Benn were killed off. I think that they will help Richard (somehow) in the underworld. Zedd was fun but kinda of irritating and more of an obstruction to Richard than anything. How long was he going to wait to train Richard as a wizard? I see Nathan as more of a help to Richard, since he was named as the Seeker, than anyone.

The other thing about it is that, in my opinion, it wouldn't be so bad if we had seen more 'happy times' than trying to figure out how long everyone has a respite between the end of Confessor to Cara and Ben's wedding. I'd say months, right?

I have found the last three books difficult to get thru because of the graphic human eating theme.

message 22: by Willow (new)

Willow Bledsoe | 3 comments Donna, Zedd.couldn't train Richard as a wizard, how did you miss that? No one would ever have been able to except for Barracus.

I'll read the final book to finish the series, but I'm not going into expecting a miracle that it will be better than the last few.

message 23: by Donna (new)

Donna Biglin | 5 comments Hi Willow, I understand what you are saying but I disagree. Throughout most of the books, Zedd is constantly trying to stop Richard from doing Wizardly type things because he hasn't taught him. How many times did Zedd freak out about Richard being in the Wizard's Keep when 'he doesn't know how to use his gift'. Isn't that the whole point of Richard being taken to the Palace of the Prophet is because he wasn't being trained by a wizard. Zedd kept holding information back from him, including being his grandfather, for a long time. Surely Zedd could have known that Richard would be having the headaches associated with using his gift. And didn't they make it clear that he had to use his gift to defeat Darken Rahl? Just reading and memorizing the Book of Counted Shadows invoked the gift.

Also, in the end, Barracus couldn't really help Richard either. He left him an empty book. Merritt was more of a help to Richard.

But, I wasn't really referring on how to be a War Wizard. I was referring to simple things like casting light and the every day things that Zedd or Nicci could do without thinking of it. Richard couldn't do any of the simple stuff.

Is it "Chainfire". where they think that Richard has lost his mind since he 'invented Kahlan' and they want to fix him? Zedd read the prophecy and still acted against it. I like the character but I stand behind my statement of him being more of a hindrance.
