Mario Puzo had a series... https://www.goodreads.com/series/5437...Is that what you are looking for? Or was it written by someone else?
I don’t remember. It dealt with mostly with the Corleone Family. I read it maybe 30 years ago. In one scene, Kay Corleone has to get permission to leave the compound. I have never watched the movie so I’m certain it was a book.
