I’d rather live in a world of plenty of technology. During my childhood, my grandparents lived nearby in a home without an indoor toilet, and we ate there twice per week, and also visited at other times, so I had to use their outhouse far too many times. I think my dad installed running water to the kitchen, so I'm fairly sure he grew up with just a hand pump for a well. I live in southeastern Virginia of the U.S., and it gets so hot and humid here, so I'm grateful for air conditioning, which my parents didn't have until my mom was pregnant with me. I cannot even imagine how miserable it would be here without even electric fans for cooling off. I went to Curaçao and Aruba last August, and it felt much nicer there than it felt in Virginia (I think it was in the high 90's with humidity over 90%), and those islands are near the equator! The temperatures and humidity were lower than here.

I also wouldn't want to be without my kindle, iPod for listening to audiobooks, and lots of other more recent technology.

Now, back to Nancy's question in post 469:

The latter. My mom works a 4-day work-week with 12-hr shifts, and she is having so many health issues.

Cabin, hopefully with a bed, I hate sleeping on the ground (scratch that, I can't GET any sleep when I'm on the hard ground.
