Me Talk Pretty One Day
question
Confused

Is anyone else really confused by this book at all? The writing style seems all over the place and I really want to know what other people think of this writing style as well as the content of the book.
No, not confused at all. Sedaris writes autobiographical, humor essays. This book is a collection of essays, like all of his other books. I love him!
David Sedaris, in my opinion, writes as he would talk (I've heard him on the radio). I found the writing style quite hard to get to grips with until I listened to him reading out his essays, from then on I just read the book imagining his voice reading it and from then on I loved the book. I think David Sedaris is really funny without trying to, and his life is interesting to read about. My favourite chapter or essay or whatever it's called was "Picket Pocketini" :-D
I agree with Sorrel - if you're confused by the writing it helps to imagine the essay being read out loud. Sedaris is a brilliant humorist, so expect each essay to be a bit wacky and/or absurd. This and other Sedaris works are great audiobooks too!
