I haven't read it, Betsy. But have heard...interesting, mostly good reviews of it. For the group: it's ASYMMETRY, by Lisa Halliday https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Thanks, Matt -- I'll add that to the pool of knowledge. If I end up reading it, I'll let you know.
I haven't read it either, but I have seen some excellent reviews of that one. However, the only real people who I know who have read it were underwhelmed by it and confused by all of the praise. I'd be interested to hear what Betsy, or any of you, think of it.I am pretty obsessed with The Morning News Tournament of Books, and that one made the long list. Even I am not crazy enough to read all 76 books on the long list, but I will definitely read it if it makes the short list.
Fun list! I'll definitely be watching the tournament in March. Maybe our book clubs can have a betting pool. :)

I'm pretty much right there. For example, I've never read Philip Roth, never intend to. And now Lisa Halliday comes along with this book about, in part, what is essentially her affair with Philip Roth (although of course she claims not). But it's also about other things, and I'm reading really good reviews of it.
In this case, it's not just Philip Roth I'm reacting to, but her relationship with a man who was, what? Forty years older than her? And just happened to be one of the most influential personages in her line of work? That has a big ick factor for me. (OK, I've almost talked myself out of it already.)
But those reviews ... People have really been loving this book all year. Has anybody read it? Does anybody plan to? Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!
