There's talk in many of the various forums about writing short novels as a way to better position yourself to earn money in Kindle Unlimited. I've written a rather detailed article with some points worth considering if you're thinking about taking this route.

What type of sales do you see for F&SF ebooks? I have been told by publishers that sales are usually very low - What about erotica?

From what I've heard, even among entrepreneurs who are not writers but who focus on maximizing all things Kindle, erotica is the stuff to write, even if the stories aren't very long. In fact, there is a best-selling indie author who writes short erotic novels (about 120 pages per book) and she sells them for $2.99 each, or at least that was the price, last time I came across her work. She had lots of positive reviews, so I gather that her sales were good.

I don't know that much about sales for SF books. Maybe someone else can help you with that. It's hard to believe that Fantasy is not selling, but then again maybe Paranormal has it beat out.

F&SF sells in paperback - but I am told by one publisher that "we sell almost none (F&SF)- no one does" -

I sell much more of my erotica than F&SF - taboo erotica sells better than conventionl.

I make a living selling steampunk and other sorts of F&SF so take that for what it's worth.

What type of yearly sales are seen for F&SF? For new writers who are in the to 10%?

I make enough to not need a day job, though to be fair I write in a lot of genres and under a bunch of pen-names. SF, Fantasy, Horror, Thrillers.

So sales of 100,000 plus copies? Total?

Well, I've been writing and publishing since 2012, so total sales across all books in all storefronts is getting up there.
